IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF TABLE-WARE. I
TO ALL WHOM 1rv MAY CONCERN:-
Be it known that I, HOWELL W. WRIGHT, of Tauuton, in the county of Bristol, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Alloy of Metals for Table-Ware; and I do hereby declare that the followingis a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
The object of this invention is to providea cheap, strong, durable, non-corrosive, and white alloy of metals, to take the place of silver, nickel, or German silver, Britannia, or plated metals, in theli manufacture of tableware,such as tea-sets, cake-baskets, urns, salvers, vegetable and meat-dishes, casters, &c.
I have found that the alloy used for forks and spoons, and already patented by me, (Letters Patent No. 77,793,) is admirably adapted to this manufacture, and it is free from the many objections that belong to all other cheap alloys or metals heretofore used in the manufacture of table-ware.
This alloy is composed of the two metals, nickel and copper, carefully melted together, and run into bars, which may be then rolled and worked into the desired form. 7
The alloy must befree from any impurity, and especially from 'any other metal, like zinc, for instance.
It is carefully described in my former patent, above referred to; but, having experimented further, I now desire to secure a new and useful application of this alloy in the arts.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and'desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The within-described alloy of nickel and copper, or any other substantially the same, all as and for the purposes set forth.
