TO AALL WHOM ITMAY CONCERNf Be it known that I, ROBERT SKINNER, of the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented an Improved Machinefor Making'v Drain Vand Water-Pipes;`and I do herebydcclare the following` description and aocompanying'drawings 'are ,sluliicient toenable any person skilled in the art orscience to which it most nearly appertains to make and use my said invention-or improvemcntswithout further invention or experiment. i
The object of' my invention is to provide an improved machine for makingdraih and Water-pipes, and con sists of'a stationary cylinder, in which a core is placed. 'A follower, attached to a piston-head, moves up and down around 'the stationary core, passing through slots inl-a centre-block. Aclosely-itting packing-ring is placed aronnd the core, and slides up and' down upon it by the action oi' the piston-or follower. t
Another ring is placed at the top of thecylindenmand thcfcement or material of which the pipe is made is held between the two rings around the core'iin the cylinder- 'A crossshead is placed over the top ring, whch is regulated by hand-wheels `or set-screws. At the top of the machine is placed a cross-head, KVwhich is'attachedl by set-nuts'or hand-wheels to movable barsor arms, L L, which are pivote'd in slots made in the sidekpieees or block-s `M M, which are fixed to the upper ends of the four posts, and also keptjinplace by set-screws.' When not employed, the-cross-liead can befmoved from side to side oi' the ,lmachine, so that the pipc can bewithdrawn, or vreightsand rings be introduced. l
A closely-littingring, N, is placed around the core, and is moved upand down by the end of the follower. The ring O muy be ont in diierent shapes to form a. variety of openings ab the endof the pipe; and for` constructing a. hell-shape for the top it may be removed entirely, and the .weight placed at the top'of the cylinder.
For forming openings in the pipe, for connecting at right ging-les, a. curved piece of rnetnl, of the necessary size and shape, .may be introduced between the corel and cylinder.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is Y 1. The follower Gr, constructed with slots G G end the curved openings F F, in which it slides, in combination nith the stationery coreE and ring substantially as' and for the purpose set forth.
