PECKHAM, M. 1)., of Grafton, in the county of Lorain, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and improved Compound for the Hair; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof. The nature of my invention consists in combining the articles "hereinafter named for too urpose of giving the hair it beautiful gloss, rendering it,soft and pliable; to invigorate the scalp, and cause a rapid growth ofilm hair; to' make the compound durable, and prevent the soiling of the hands and clothing; in which pgrticulers I believe it excels all other compounds'now in use. 7 i

i To enable others" skilled in the art to make and use my compound, I will proceed to describe its composition and mode of compounding.

Pec'khams Russian Hair-Gloss and Renewer.

Take soft water, two gallons; isin glass, one pound", sugslr of lead, two ounces. Put then: in a. po elain kettle, in a sand-bath; apply n, gentle heat till the isinglass is all dissolved; increose the heat, and evaporate to two quarts. Then add spermaceti, three and one-half pounds; olive-oil, sevenpounds; lard, four and oneehalf pounds white wax, two and one-half pounds When all are incorporated remove from sand-bath, and stir till cool enough to be about the consistency of thick sirup. Then add lac-sulphur, four ounces. Perfume, and stir until cold, when it is ready for use.

Claim. What I claim as my own invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- i A compound composed of the ingredients, and in nearly the proportions, substantially as herein described.
