Description

Patented December 27, 1904.
PATENT OFFICE,
ADOLPH SPEOHT, OF NElV YORK, N. Y.
PAPER PATTERN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 778,464, dated December 27, 1904.
' Application filed September 30, 1904:: Serial No. 226,636-
lb all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH SPECHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper Patterns, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates especially to cut paper patterns, and has for its object the provision of simple and accurate means for indicating and locating the seam-line allowance in such patterns.
To attain the desired end, my invention consists, essentially, in perforating the material of the pattern with a series of perforations, the walls or edges whereof are pointed or acutely angular to indicate the exact center of the seam-line, all of which will be hereinafter first fully described and then pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof, is shown a plan View of apattern embodying my invention.
In the drawing, 1 is the body of the pattern, made of paper in the usual manner. 2 represents perforations in the paper indicating the seam-line allowance, the walls or edges of said perforations forming acute angles in the direction of the seam-line.
Heretofore it has been the custom to indicate seam-lines in paper patterns by means of circular or square perforations; but this does not accurately indicate the exact line of the seam and mistakes are liable to occur by the user of such pattern taking the inside edge or the outside edge of the Wall of the perforation as the seam-line, allowing such latitude as might destroy the fit of the, completed garment. Such difliculty is obviated by my improved pattern, as the points or acute angles of the wall or edge of each perforation definitely locate the proper seam-line allowance.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a cut paper pattern having the seam-line allowance indicated by a series of perforations the walls or edges whereof are pointed, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ADOLPH SPECHT.
