SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 769,376, dated September 6, 1904.

hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,-
and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which,
it"appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to devices for applying oil or other liquids to floors; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafterfullydescribed and claimed.

A is a large reservoir for the oil or other liquid which is to be applied to the floor.
B is a stopper for closing the opening through which the said reservoir is filled. This stopper is arranged at the top of the reservoir, and it is provided with any suitable valve or slide Z for the admission of air; but
this air-valve may be arranged at any other point at the upper part of the reservoir instead of being mounted on the stopper.

but other similar absorbent fabric, suchias cloth or felt, may be used. The edges of the oiling-pad are bent around the flanges c and are provided with holes,'which are slipped over the studs E, and 0 represents thumb-nuts which clamp the edges of the oiling-plate in position.

G represents tubular guide-boxes secured to the said plate around its said openings. These guide-boxesare filled with absorbent material g-lamp-cotton or lamp-wickand portions of the wick hang over the top edges of the said guide-boxes intothe oil in the oil-chamber. The absorbent material or lamp-wick absorbs ducts it to the oiling pad F. The main reservoir A has a dischargemozzleit, which projects from its bottom part within the oilchamber D and extends within the said chamber to close to the plate C. This nozzle is arranged under themiddle part of the reservoir and between the tubular guides G.
The floor-oiler is provided with an operating-handle H for pushing it about, and this handle is secured to it at any convenient point andis arranged at any desired angle.
. The reservoir and the oil-chamber are first filled with oil and the stopper and the air-valve are closed. The floor is oiled by pushing the device about in contact with its surface, and the edges 11 of the oilingpad form buffers, which prevent injury to furniture when the oiler is pushed against it. As the oil is applied to the floor and the supply of oil in the oil-chamber becomes exhausted the air-Valve is opened more or less and from time to time, sol as to supply the said oil-chamber with more 01 1 .VVhat I claim is- 1. In a floor-oiler, the combination, with an oilchamber having a fiat base-plate and tubular guide-boxes projecting upward from the said plate, of a reservoir for supplying the said chamber with liquid, absorbent material in the said boxes, and a pad of textile material secured under the said base-plate in contact with the said absorbent material. 2. In a floor-oiler, the combinatiomwith an oil-chamber having a flat base-plate and tubular guide-boxes projecting upward from the said plate, of a reservoir having an outletnozzle which depends within the said chamher, an air-valve at the upper part of the said reservoir, absorbent material in the said boxes, and a plate of textile material secured under the said base-pad in contact with the said absorbent material.
