PATENT OFFICE.
NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 758,395, dated April 26, 1904;. Application filed September 10, 1903. Serial No. 172,664. (No model.)
To (LZZ whom it may concern.
' Be it known that I, CHARLES A. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Winchester, in the county of Scott and State of My invention relates to improvements in.
non-refillable bottles; and the object of my invention is the provision of a device of this character which will be inexpensive of production and thoroughly efficient and practical for the intended purpose.
With this object in view my invention consists of a non-refillable bottle embodying novel features of construction and combination of parts, substantially as disclosed herein.
Figure 1 represents a vertical central secti onal view of a non-refillable bottle constructed in accordance with and embodying my invention, and Fig. 2- represents a detail view.
The letter A designates the bottle, having the neck B provided with the oppositely-disposed grooves C. Arranged in the neck of the bottle is the ring or collar D, having a valve-seat E, in which normally fits the ballvalve E. Fitting in the mouth of the neck of the bottle is the plug F, formed with the two- Way opening or passage Gr and having depending portions F, and to the depending portions is pivoted, by means of the pin H,
having the upturned ends J, fitting in the grooves of the bottle-neck and securing the cap in place, the conical metal plate K. From this construction it will be seen that the ballvalve cannot move except for a limited distance, as the pivoted conical plate will swing to any desired position and engage the ball, so that the liquid may be poured through the collar in the bottle around the ball and out through. the passage in the cap or plug, and thus the bottle can be emptied of its contents; but it is absolutely impossible to fill the bottle, as the liquid cannot be poured into the bottle through the neck, as the ball will always seat itself and the pivoted plate will only permit it a limited movement.
It is evident that I provide a non-refillable bottle which is the embodiment of simplicity and that it will perform its functions in an eflicient and practical manner.
I claim 1. In a non-refillable bottle, the combination of a ring or collar, a ball-valve seated therein, a plug fitting the mouth of the bottle and having a discharging-passage, and a swinging plate pivoted to said plug for limiting the movement of the ball-valve.
2. In a non-refillable bottle, the combination With the bottle-neck having grooves, a plug having a discharge-passage, a plate pivoted to said plug, a pin for pivoting the plate to the plug and having bent ends fitting the grooves in the neck of the bottle, and a ballvalve below saidpivoted plate and a valveseat for the ball-valve.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES A. TAYLOR. W'itnesses:
JAMES A. BARTON, JOHN H. DYER.
