Should it be desired to vary the grade, it will be evident that by rotating the screw in one direction or the other the lower end of the movable jaw will be -moved toward or from the stationary jaw, thus varying the size of the opening between said jaws.
The particular'arrangement of the link and crosshead, as shown, prevents any tendency of one side of the movable jaw being spacedfarther from the stationary jaw than the other side, and thus the grade, whether fine or coarse, will always be uniform. The spring ,employed holds the movable jaw, .the link, and the cross-head in their coacting relations, but
permits the ready disassociation of these members should it be necessary to-replace or rebeen passed through the machine'and it is de- 3. These parts, however, are inexpensive to construct,and any or all may be removed-when worn and replaced by others.
