PATENT OFFICE.
CALVIN R. DAVIS, OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR TO OLIVER CHILLED PLOI/V WORKS, OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
LISTEFL SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 757,997, dated April 19, 1904-.
Original application filed April 9, lElOS, Serial No. 151,831, Divided and this application filed January 20,1904. Serial No- 189,861\
7 (N model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CALVIN R. DAVIS, aresident of South Bend, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Listers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make anduse the same.
My invention relates to an improved lister, and more particularly to improved mounting for a subsoiler, this application being a division of application for patent filed by me April 9, 1903, and designated by Serial No. 151,831.
The object of the present invention is to so construct and mount the subsoiler as to permit of both vertical and tilting adjustment thereof.
With this object in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view in side elevation illustrating my improvements. Fig. 2 is a view in section on the line m m thereof, and Fig. 3 is a detail view of the wedge-block 10.
1 represents a plow-standard to which a lister 2 is secured by means of a suitable frog bolted to the standard. A rearwardly -extending bracket 3 is securely bolted to standard 1 and provided with a slot 4: for the reception of a bolt 5, which latter is also passed through vertical elongated slots 6 and 7, respectively, in
subsoiler-standard 8 and wedge-block plate 9,
with which latter wedge-block 10 is made integral, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. Plate 9 is secured beside subsoiler-standard 8, with its wedge-block 10 located between the forward edge of said subsoiler-standard and a lug 11 on bracket 3.
soiler 12 at the lower end of standard 8 can be adjusted vertically by means of the slot 6 in the subsoiler-standard 8 and can be set more or less on its point by adjusting the wedgeblock 10 and plate 9 vertically.
It will thus be seen thatthe sub- Slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of the parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I would have it understood that I do not restrict myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of my invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a lister, the combination with a standard, of a rearwardly-projecting bracket secured thereto, a subsoiler-standard adjustably secured to the bracket, and an ad justing-wedge between the subsoiler-standard and bracket to tilt the subsoiler by adjustment of the wedge.
52. In a lister, the combination with astandard, of a rearwardly-projecting bracket secured thereto, a subsoiler-standard adjustably secured to the bracket, an adjusting-plate beside the standard having an elongated vertical slot,a clamping-bolt passed through these slots and also through a slot in the bracket, a lug on the bracket, and a wedgeon the adjustingplate between the forward edge of the subsoiler-standard and the lug.
3. Inalister, the combination with a standard, of a rearwardly-projecting bracket secured thereto, a subsoiler-standard having an elongated vertical slot therein, an adjustingplate beside the standard having an elongated vertical slot, a clamping-bolt passed through these slots and also through a slot in the bracket, a lug on the bracket, and a wedge on the adjusting-plate between the forward edge of the subsoiler-standard and the lug.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CALVIN R. DAVIS.
