To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, AARON GRoFr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakbottom, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Holder Attachments for Vehicles, of which the following is a specification.

This invention provides a simple attaching device for use in connection with vehicles, bicycles, or the like for supporting lamps.

The device consists of a bracket adjustment embodying an article having simplicity as the essential desirable structural feature, thereby affording consequent cheapness as well as substantiality.

For a full description of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction of the means for effecting the result reference is to be had to the following description and drawings hereto attached.

WVhile the essential and characteristic features of the invention are susceptible of modification, still the preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the application of the invention to the side member of a buggy-top. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the attachment. Fig. 3 is an elevation similar to Fig. 2, showing the removable clamp-jaw partially open. Fig. 4 is a view showing a modified form of the invention.

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.

The attachment comprises a body portion 1, provided witha supporting extension 2, upon which the lamp is suitably mounted when placed in position. The body 1 is also provided with a clamp-jaw 3 upon the end portion thereof opposite to that from which the extension 2 is projected. Adjacent the jaw 3 the body 1 of the attachment is cut away upon the under side to receive the shank 4 of a removable jaw 5, which is secured to the body 1 by means of a fastening 6 of suitable type. The corresponding jaws 3 and 4 embrace the part to which the attachment is applied, and thereby secure the attachment in position after the fastening 6 has been tightened sufiicient to cause a grip action of the aforesaid aws.

The modified form of this invention shows the cutaway portion or recess 7 of the body 1 of peculiar form. In this modification the rear end of the recess, as shown at 7 is cut away in an angle, and the adjacent cooperating portion of the shank 4 of the removable clamp member is likewise provided with an angular end portion, so as to cooperate with the portion 7 of the recess 7 When the modified form of the device is used, it will be readily noted that tightening of the fastening 6, because of the form of the recess 7 and adjacent portion of the clamp member, will cause the latter to begiven a longitudinal movement, and thereby facilitate its gripping action. The form of the recess 7 shown in the first three figures of the drawings is preferred, however, since the removable clamp member is prevented from lateral play when the attachment is disposed in position, causing the end por- -tion of the recess 7 to constitute a stop. The

clamp member is thus kept from loosening, as would be the case were any play of this member permitted. In the provision of a recess wherein the shank 4: of the clamp member is adapted to rest the under side of same is disposed about flush with the under side of the body 1, obviating any disadvantage which might arise because of the projecting of this part from the body 1 were the structure other wise.

The attachment ispreferably made of cast metal of any substantial character and is finished so as to present a neat and desirable article.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is 1. A lamp holder or support comprising a straight body having a jaw integrally formed at one end thereof, a side of the body inter-'' mediate the ends thereof and adjacent the aforesaid jaw being cut away longitudinally, a removable member comprising a jaw for cooperation with the jaw upon the body, a shank integrally formed with the jaw and adapted to be received within the cut-away portion of the body, a supporting-arm projected upwardly from the body, and a fastening securing the removable member to the body. 2. A lamp holder or support comprising a body having an integral arm extending upwardly from one end thereof, a jaw formed upon the opposite end thereof, the body being cut away longitudinally adjacent the jaw aforesaid, the inner end of the cut-away portion being inclined, a removable member comprising a jaw for cooperation with the jaw of the body,

and a shank integrally formed with the jaw,

shank and adapted to secure the removable member to the body.
