IMPROVEMENT IN ARMLET PORTE-MONNAIES.
@tige tlgebnle referat it in tigre: itters ttnrt mit mating part nf tigt time.
ro ALL 'WHoM 1r MAY- eoNeERN:
Be it known that I, AARON W. PRATT, of Pultneyville, in the county of Wayne, and State of New York, i
have invented a new and useful Improvement in Money-Safe; and I do hereby declare that the following isa full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being' had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specication, in which- Figure 1 show/s the safe as worn on the person, and Figure 2 shows the same detached.
' Figure 3 is a longitudinal section.
^ Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
In theaceompauying drawings, A is alight safe made of sheet metal, having a cover hinged to the body by a hinge, e, and secured by a. lock,f. This box or safe is made with a crowning form, to follow the shape of the arm, and has two metallic retaining-bands B B, by which it is secured to 'the arm. One end of each band is secured to the safe in a fixed manner, while the other end is detachable, for convenience of securing the safe to the arm, or removing it therefrom. The detachable ends of the bands are secured by passing them through narrow slots e e, iig. 2, in the side of the safe, and fastening them inside when the safe is open, by means of spring-catches or bolts I, tig. 3. These securing-bolts are formedby bending pieces of wire into suitable shape, and soldering their fixed ends t' to the inside of the safe, near the lock f, and having their securing-ends work in steadying-loops c c; the bodies I of the wires giving sufficient elasticity tc operate the securing-ends or bolts. The bands B have each a series of holes,.as shown in fig. 2, so, they'can be fastened at various lengths, to adapt themselves to various sizes of arms. The fixed ends of the retaining-bands can be hinged to the body of the safe, for convenience of applying them to the arm or removing them therefrom. The retaining-bands can he made in the form of a at chain for greater flexibility; they can have also a light covering of cloth or other soft materialwhen'to be used next to the arm, but if secured on the outside of some ofthe under clothing, such covering for the bands is not necessary. With a package of valuables thus attached to the arm, it is always more immediately under the eye, and is taken care of with less trouble than usual, and is more accessible for the wearer.
-By this means of securing the bands B, their fastenings are placed under lock and key, andthe safe cannot be taken from the arm until it has been unlocked.
Havingathus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the retaining-bolts I, lock f, slotted box A, c c, and `retaining-bands B B, as herein shown, and for the purpose described.
