` SPECIFICATION forming' part of Letters Patent No. 754,297, dated March 8, 1904.
Application led August 12, 1903. Serial No. 169,207. (No model.)
To (LM whom it mfr/y concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAVE FREYSLEB EN, a citizen oi' the United States, and a resident or' San Diego, in the county of San .Diego and State of California, have invented a new and Improved Meat-Press, of which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to meat-presses; and it consists of the new and improved meat-press which will hereinafter bc fully described, and shown by the accompanying' drawings.
More deiinitely stated, the invention consists in providing a press 4of this character with hinged sides and ends, detachable corners, and compressing means, all of simple and novel construction.
ln the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view illustrating my invention, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal v'"'tical sectional view through the ends and pr, orated bottom ot' my meat? press.
In practicing my invention I employ a speclal box A, having a perforated bottom B,
' with which are eoni'icotcd by suitable hingejoints (il side and end boards l.) E, the coi'- ners of which latter being provided with detachable tastenings consisting' of lixed loops F and a locking-pin (i.
' H indicates special plates or castings constructed at their lower ends H, adapted to form one member ot' the hinge connection of the end boards IG, to the perforated bottom B. lhe upper end of the plate or casting il is provided with perforated ears l l', adapted to receive the perforated ends J of a suitable D-frame K, the ends of the D-rame being secured by pins L, as shown. The D-frame l( is constructed with vertical screw-threaded perforations, as will be understood, adapted to receive compressing-screws M, of which one or more may be used, according as may be desired.
In connection with my invention l employ a follower N with `ilates O on its upper side, having sockets O' adapted to receive the lower ends of the compressing-screws M.
vWhile my invention will be fully understood from the above description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, it may be well to state that in its use there is special advantage in the facility with which the corners of the side and end boards may be detached and :the said side and end boards be turned down, "affoi-ding free access to the compressed meat.
The procedure in placing meat in the box being understood, as also its compression by means of the screws M and the follower N, it becomes necessary only to mention the fact that any grease compressed from the meat will pass off through the corner-joints of the sides and ends and also through the perforated bottom B.
A detachable tie-rod or bracelV may be employed, (see Fig. 1,) having simple bent ends WV, adapted for connection lwith the sides of the press.
Having thus described my invention, what I Patent, is---- l. A meat-press consisting of a perforated bottom, sides and end boards hinged to the sisting ot' ixed loops and a locking-pin, a follower, and a detachable D-'frame providing support for compressing-screws, adapted in operation, to apply pressure to the seid follower, substantially as described.
2. ln combination with a meat-press having hinged sides and end boards,corner-fastenings, compressingserews and a follower, a D-frame providing support for thecompressing-screws, and plates fixed to the said end boards, having perforated ears adapted for connection with the D-fraine and with their lower ends forming one member of the hinge connection to shown and described.
