cated or forked in order to embrace the ring. By this last-mentioned construction a very light ring may be used.
From the above it will be seen that my invention consists, in effect, of a traveler-ring with means for supporting the same, such means offering no obstruction to the free passage of the thread, but being moved aside by contact with the thread to allow the same to pass.
The arms of the stiles are preferably rounded on one edge at 2.
I claim as my invention 1. In apparatus of the class described, the combination of a traveler-ring having a continuous unobstructed edge for the movement of the thread thereabout and means for supporting the said ring, said means having an interrupted edge and being movable to allow the passage of the thread between the same and the traveler-ring, substantially as described.
2. In combination in apparatus of the class described, a ring and rotary turnstiles for supporting the said ring, said turnstiles allowing the passage of the thread between them and the ring, substantially as described.
3. In combination with a ring having a continuous unobstructed edge for the movement of the thread thereabout, supporting devices arranged around the periphery of the ring, said devices having an interrupted edge and being movable to allow the passage of the thread between the same and the ring, substantially as described.
4:. In combination in apparatus of the'class described a ring having a continuous unobstructed edge and movable supporting devices for the said ring, one of said parts fitting in a groove of the other part, substantially as described. I
5. An apparatus of the class described, comprising two portions, one portion consisting of a ring and the other consisting of turnstiles for supporting the said ring, one of said portions being grooved to receive the other portion, substantially as described.
6. In combination with a ring, turnstiles for engaging the same and means for adjusting the turnstiles vertically, substantially as described. 7
.7. In combination with a ring turnstiles for supporting the same, threaded bosses arranged on the stand, caps adjustably held on the threaded bosses, flanged sleeves arranged between the caps and the bosses and having ball-bearings, the said sleeves carrying the turnstiles and locking-rings to engage the caps, said locking-rings being screwed on the bosses, substantially as described.
8'. In combination a movable ring having its peripheral surface for guiding the thread and rotary devices for supporting the ring, said devices being arranged around the periphery of the ring and each having spaces adapted to allow the thread to pass between them and the ring, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
