SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 752,125, dated February 16, 1904:.

To all whom, it ntcty concern:
Be it known. that I, HANS OTTO SwonoDA, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Orange, county of Essex, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Panel-Boards, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to panel-boards of the type used for connecting conductors of a number of distributing-circuits through fuses or switches to the bus-bars of an electric dis trib ution-circuit.
My invention consists in various details of construction of the panel-board, which. will be set forth in the specification.
The object of my invention is to simplify and cheapen the construction of panel-boards, and this I accomplish by making the panelboards of a definite size, arranging the bus bars parallel and in such manner that two of such bars shall be located near to the outer edges of the panel-board,and locating the fuses and switches and other connecting devices between the bus-bars.

Mounted upon the face of the board and near to its outer edges are the bus-bars 6 6. In Fig. 3 the panel-board is shown as arranged for a three-wire circuit with three bus-bars, two of which, 6 6 are located near to the outer edges of the board and one, 6", at the center of the board. If the panel-board ist'o be provided with more than three bus-bars, such bus-bars will be disposed parallel and equally distant on the face of the board. Two bus-bars, however, will always be located near to the outer edges of the board.
Situated between the bus-bars 6 6 of Fig. 1 or 6 6 6 6* of Fig. 3 are the blocks 7. These blocks may be of any suitable construction and have terminal screws 8 and 9. Terminal screw 8 is connected through fuse 10 with bus-bars 6 6, Fig. 1, and 6, 6, and 6, Fig. 3. Connected to the terminal screws 9 are the conductors 11 12 for the distributingcircuits. As shown in Fig. 1, these conductors are carried through openings 13, situated between the blocks 7.
In the construction shown in Fig. 3 there are used in connection with the blocks 7 the switches 1 1. These switches may be of any suitable type, but preferably provided with the two switch-blades 15 16, connected through the non-conducting handle 17 These switches are connected in circuit as follows: bus-bar G or 6, fuse 10, terminal screw 8, with its block 7, post 18, forming a part of it, switch-blade 15, pivoted to the post, contact 19, forming part of another block 7, with the terminal screw 9 to the distributing conductor 11. Bus-bar (i is connected through fuse 10, terminal screw 8,with its block 7, contact 20, switchblade 16, pivoted to post 21, forming part of another block 7, with the terminal screw 9 to the distributing-conductor 12.
The conductors 11 12 for the distributingcircuits are carried separately through openings 22 23, formed through the body of the panel-board.
It will be observed from the construction shown in Fig. 3 that when a switch 14 is closed the distributing-conductors 11 are cut into circuit with the bus- bars 6 or 6, depending upon the positions of the switch, and the distributing-conductors 12 cut into circuit with the busbar 6 Having thus described my invention, I claim 1. In a panel-board, the combination of a supporting-base, bus-bars mounted thereon, switches arranged on the supporting-base between said bus-bars, said switches consisting t bus-bar.

In a panel-board, the combination of a supporting-base, bus-bars thereon, distributing-conductors leading therefrom, switches arranged 0n.said supporting-base between said bus-bars, said switches consisting of two switch-blades, and two contacts, said switches connected through one blade to one bus-bar, and through the opposite blade to one distributing-conductor, and through one contact to the opposite distributing-conductor, and through the opposite contact to the opposite 3. In a pane 1- board, the combination of parallel bus-bars, distributing-conductors, and switches interposed between said bus-bars and arranged on said panel-board, said switches composed of two pivoted contact-blades and two contact-clips insulated from each other, the
connection being such that a contact-blade and its coacti'ng contact-clip are respectively'conneeted to one bus-bar and one distributingconductor.
' 4. In a distribution panel-board, the combination with bus-bars secured to said panelboard, of a double-pivoted knife-switch, and conta'ctafor engagement thereby secured on the panel-board between thebus-lmrs, anelectrical connection between one switch-blade terminal and the adjacent bus-bar and between one contact and the bus-bar adjacent thereto, and distributing-conductors connected to the other switch-blade and to the other contact, respectively, wherebg the terminals of the distributing-oonductors are, respectively, 't'ar removed from the bus-bar to which they are electrically connected.
5. In a distribution panel-board, the combination with bus-bars secured to said panelboard, of a double-pivoted knife-switch, and contacts for engagement thereby secured on the panel-board between the bus-bars, a fuse connection between one switch-blade terminal and the adjacent bus-bar and between one contact and the bus-bar adjacent thereto, and distributing-conduetors connected. to the other switch-blade and to the other contact, respectively, whereby the terminals of the distributing-conductors are, respectively, -far removed from the bus-bar to which they are electrically connected.
