To all whom it mayconcern:
Be it known that I, FRANK B. HENRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Building or Pav-- for frames in building the arches, while the well-casing is so formed "and provided with projections that pierce the earth in the wellboring that it may be -laid from the top downward.

Referring to the drawings, in which similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, A represents a binding and supporting block which is formed with a dovetail B on its lower edge and a correspondingly-shaped groove C on its upper edge, said dovetail and groove extending laterally of the wall. On one side edge of the block is formed a dovetail D, while on the other side edge is formed-a correspondinglyshaped groove E. The surface of the block on each side of dovetail D is formed. with a' channel F, having walls perpendicular to the edge of the brick, while the surface of the block on each side of groove E is formed with a bead G, having perpendicular sides to fi snugly in channels F.

Each block J is provided with an offset O,.that extends downwardly below the bottom of said block J, and has a projection P that extends outwardly from the side of said offset and when the blocks are properly placed, as shown in Fig. 1, rests, on the top of spur or projec-- tion H.
Q, represents other intermediate blocks, that are formed exactly like blocks J except that they have not offsets O and projections P thereon. g It will be understood from this description that the casing of a well may be built downwardly by having every third'vertical row of blocks consist of binding-blocks with the binding and supporting blocks A arranged at suitable distances apart. The other two vertical rows of blocks consist'of intermediate support-' ing-blocks J and intermediate blocks Q. It will readily appear that the wall formed by my blocks will consist of tiers of blocks consisting of courses of binding-blocks and intermediate blocks abutting each side of the vertical row or superposed courses of binding-blocks that are vertically adjustable independently of each other, so'that the holes that may be made in the wall of the well to receive the projections H need not be in the same plane, as the different tiers will adjust themselves by gravity, though my invention will be more effective in operation if the bricks forming the coursesof the various binding-blocks are on each block is curved the arc of the circle it is stallation.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. In abinding-block, a dovetail on one end, a corresponding] y-sh'aped groove on the other end, a. dovetail on one side, and a correspondingly-shaped groove on the opposite side, substantially as shown and described. v
- 2. In a building-block,a dovetail on one side,
a correspondingly-shaped groove on the other side, the surface of the block abutting said dovetail channeled, and beads on. said other side abutting said groove to fit into said channels, substantially as shown and described.
3. In abinding-block, a dovetail on one end,
a correspondingly-shaped groove on the other end, a dovetail on one side, the surface of said side abutting said dovetail channeled, the walls of said channels being, perpendicular to the surfaceof said side, a groove in the opposite side corresponding to the shape of said dove- 'tail, and beads abutting said groove having site side, the surface of the'block abutting saidperpendicular sides, substantially as shown' and described.
- 4. In a building-block, a dovetail on one side,
a correspondingly-shaped groove on the opp odovetail channeled, the walls 'ofsaid' channels beingperpendicular to the surface of said side, and'beads on the opposite side of the block abutting said groove having, perpendicular sides, substantially as shown and described.

In a building, series of blocks'having a dovetail at one end, a correspondingly shaped groove in the other end, a .dovetailon one side, the surface of said edge abutting said dovetail channeled,- a groove in the opposite side corresponding to the shape of said dovetail, beads abutting said groove to fit the channels on the other side, a spur 'or projection on in shape to blocks between said series having a dovetail on one side and channels abutting said dovetail, a groove in the other side corresponding the shape of the dovetail on the other side, beads abutting said'groove correspending to the shape of the channels aforesaid, and offsets on individual intermediate blocks to rest on said spurs or projections, substantially as shown and described.
13. In a curved structure,- blocks having their sides forming an arc of said structure, vertical series of said blocks having a dovetail at one end, a correspondingly-shaped groove in the other end, a dovetail on one edge, a correspondingly-shaped groove on the other, and intermediate blocks between said series having a dovetail on one-edge, and a correspondingly-shaped groove on the other, substantially as shown and described.
14. In a well-casing, blocks having their sides forming an arc of a circle, vertical series of said blocks having a dovetail atone end, a correspondingly-shaped groove in the other end, a dovetail on one edge, a correspondingly-shaped groove in the other, and individual blocks in said serieshaving a spur or projection on their outer sides, and intermediate blocks between said series-having a dovetail on one edge, aeorrespondingly-shaped groove in the other edge, and individual intermediate blocks having an ofiset thereon with projections to rest upon said spur or projection, substa'ntiallyas shown and'described.
