RADIATOR CONNECTION.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 750,582, dated January 26, 1904.
Application filed November 19, 1903. Serial No. 181,809- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that L Jo'nN BRENNAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Radiator Connections, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
This invention relates particularly to hotwater radiators. its main objects are to permit swinging a radiator away from a wall for the purpose of finishing, repairing, cleaning, or the like behind it without interrupting or interfering with the circulation of the heating medium and to facilitate the connection of the radiator with the supply and return pipes.
It consists in certain novel features of construction and in the peculiar arrangement and combinations of parts, as hereinafter particularly described, and pointed out in the claims.

The horizontal arm of the elbow is screwed into the opening in the lower part of a radiator 16 or is connected therewith by a nipple f, the partition 6 extending through the first section of the radiator and cutting off the other sections from the inlet-passage 0. The inletpassage 0 is provided with a valve g, the stem of which passes through a removable cap it at the upper end of the vertical arm of the elbow and is provided with a handle a. To the lower end of the vertical arm of the elbow is swiveled, by means of an internally-threaded collar 1' and a flanged nipple k, the upper cylindrical part of a ho w head 1. This head is expanded at its low :1:- end and provided on opposite sides with threaded inlet and outlet openings for the attachment of the supply and return pipes at and a. Between these openings a partition 0 is fitted to turn in the cylindrical part of said head and is adapted to be coupled or attached at its upper end to the partition d, of which it forms a continuation. To guide and hold the partition 0 in place and facilitate its turning, it maybe provided at its lower end with a central pintlo p, which has a bearing in the bottom of the head Z.
To indicate how far a radiator may be turned without affecting its inlet and outlet connections, the elbow a may be provided with an index or mark and the upper end of the head 6 with marks 1-, determining the limits within which the partition 0 may be turned in the head Z without establishing com mun i cation between the inlet and outlet passages therein.
The trouble and annoyance incident to set ting and connecting a radiator with two pipes in or above the floor in the usual way are avoided by my improved connection, which requires but a single round opening to be bored in the floor and a single coupling to be made in or above the floor.
Various changes in the minor details of construction of the device may be made within the intended scope of the invention.
