In operation as the current passes through the wires 18, contacts 15, wire 19, and motor 9 to ground 20, the motor 9 being energized to rotate, thus swinging the member 7, which when it engages the upturned arm of the switch member of that circuit will tilt the same, thus breaking the circuit and preventing further `operation of the motor. The operation for swinging the member 7 in a re- Verse direction is practically the same, the current passing through the wire 21, contacts 14:, wire 22, the other motor 9, and grounding through wire 23.
In order to prevent the upturned ends of the switch members 16 and 17 from slipping or being struck too abruptly by the member 7 as it is oscillated, I form the same with grooves 24, in which the upturned ends ot the said switch members enter when they are operated.

Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim by Letters Patent is 1. The combination with the switch-tongue and the movable member secured thereto, of motors, gearing directly connecting said motors, and of which gears one engages directly with said member, and a casing inclosing said member and its actuating means.
2. The combination with the switch-tongue and the casing arranged adjacent thereto in the road-bed, said casing being formed with a slot, of a movable member arranged in said casing, a rod extending through the said slot and secured to the switch-tongue and movable member respectively, a slide secured to the said rod for closing the opening in said casing and motors with gears intermeshing with means for operating the said member.
3. The combination with the switch-tongue and the movable member connected thereto, of motors, gearing between the same and the movable member and a cut-out actuated by said movable member.
4. In combination with the switch-tongue and the movable member, said movable member having one of its ends formed with a segmental rack, and its opposite end operatively connected to the switch-tongue, of a pinion meshing with the toothed end of the said member, and means for operating the said pinion.
5. In combination with the switch-tongue and the casing arranged in the road-bed, of a member pivoted in the said casing and being operatively connected to the switch-tongue, of a pair of motors adapted to be alternately energized for operating the said member, and means actuated by the said member for stopping the said motors from rotating.
6. The combination with the switch-tongue, of a member pivoted at a point adjacent thereto and having one of its ends operatively engaging the same and its opposite end formed with teeth, a pinion meshing with the toothed end of the said member, electrical means for operating the said pinion, circuit make and breakers arranged in proximity to the'said member and being in circuit to the said electrical means, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
7. The combination with the switch-tongue and the casing arranged in the road-bed therebeneath, of a member pivoted in the said casing, and being operatively connected to the switch-tongue, a segmental rack carried by the said movable member, a pinion meshing with the said segmental rack, a pair of motors, pinions operated by the said motors and meshing with the first-named pinion, a pair of switches arranged on opposite sides of the said movable member and being in circuit with the said motors, said switches being adapted to be operated by the said movable member, and means for returning or closing the said switches after they have been actuated by the said movable member.
8. The combination with the switch-tongue and the casing arranged in the road-bed adjacent thereto, said casing being formed with an opening, of the switch-throwing mechanism arranged in the casing, one member of which projects through the said opening of the said casing and being operatively cou- -nected to the switch-tongue, and a slide secured to the said projecting member, said slide being of greater length than the said opening, and keeping the said opening closed at all times. 4
9. The combination with the switch-tongue, of a pivoted member carrying a segmental rack, a pinion engaging the said rack, means for rotating the said pinion, and means actuated by the said movable member for throwing the switch-tongue, substantially as described.
