In the drawings the rods 8 are arranged horizontally; but if it be preferred to incline the awning downwardly toward the front the housings l2 13 may be secured at the proper angle to impart the desired slant to the awning, as will be readily understood.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

1. The combination of a plurality of longitudinally-slidable awning-supporting rods, said rods being supported and guided by antifriction-rollers, a bar connecting the outer ends of said rods, cords attached to the inner ends of said rods, said cords extending forwardly, around said rollers, pulleys suspended from the ceiling, weights suspended from the pulleys, substantially as described; substantially as and for the purpose specilied.

2. The combination with a sash-bar 3 and the top of awindow, ofa plurality of longitudinally-slidable rods, said rods passing through openings in the sash-bar, housings secured to the inner face of the sash-bar and to the top of the window, two pairs of antifrictionrollers in each housing, said rods passing between said pairs of rollers, cords attached to the inner ends of said rods, said cords extending forwardly around said rollers, pulleys suspended to the ceiling, weights and cords suspended from said pulleys, substantially as described.

3. The combination, with a sash-bar 3 and the top of a display-window, of a plurality of longitudinally-slidable rods, passing through openingsin said sash-bar,a bar connecting the outer ends of said rods, an awning attached to said bar, a roller upon which the awning may be wound, said roller being held at about the same height as said bar, housings secured to the topof the display-window and to the inner face of the sash-bar, two pairs of antifriction-rollers in each housing, said rods passingV between said pairs of rollers, and two of said rods being provided with cords and weights for extending the awning; substantially as described.
