LOUIS GRElNER-VOIGT, OF TVINTERTHUR, SWITZERLAND.
STAMP FOR RECEIPTING BILLS.
$EEQIFIGATEGH forming part of Letters Patent No. 745,822, dated December 1, 1903.
Application filed January 26,1903. Serial No. 140.623. (No model.)
To ctZZ whmn it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, Louis GREINER-VOIGT, a citizen of the Republic of Switzerland, and a resident of Ninterthur, Switzerland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Stamps forReceipting Bills, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a stamp for receipting bills, the construction of which is improved in such a manner that means are provided for booking the particulars of the bill which is receipted on a strip of paper secured in the stamp-casing, so that the payments received can be controlled from the notes on the paper strip.
In the accompanying drawings the improved stamp is shown in Figure l in a vertical section on line A B of Fig. 2 and in Fig. 2 in a vertical section on line C D of Fig. 1.
The stamp consists, as usual, of the handle a and easing b, which contains the stamping device proper on its upper surface. The stamping device can be constructed as an automatic inking-stamp or in any other suitable manner.
The front part of the casing b is removable, so that it forms a lid or cover 0. In the easing 1) a vertical metal frame 62 is fixed at the side of the stamping device, which latter is not shown in the drawings, as its construction does not form a part of this invention. This frame serves as support for the horizontal axles Zm of two rollers e f, to which rollers the ends of a paper strip g are attached in any suitable manner. The axles Zm of the rollers efare prolonged at one end, so that they project through the wall of easing h and cover 0, respectively, and terminatein handwheels 0 7a.
In the flattened upper end of the cover 0 the stamping device proper is arranged. At the side of the stamping device an opening is provided in the cover, which opening is covered by a plate h, fixed to the cover by screwbolts or in any other suitable manner. A vertical slot is provided in the cover 0, which reaches from the opening for the axle m to the bottom edge of the cover for allowing the insertion of the cover over said axle. In this plate 71 two slots it" are provided at a certain distance apart, which serve for the passage of the paper strip g. One end of the paper strip is fixed to the roller f. The other end of the same is passed through slot 2" and back again through slot 'i and then attached to the roller 6, on which the paper strip is wound up.
At the side of the frame da spring n is fixed, the ends of which press on the inner ends of the axles Z m of the rollers e f, serving as brakes for the same to prevent unintentional rotation.
The device is used as follows: WVhen a receipt is stamped on a bill by means of the stamping device, the amount and further particulars of the bill may be noted by pencil on that part of the paper strip g which passes over the outer surface of the plate h. The hand-wheel 0 is then rotated in the direction of the arrow, Fig. 1, so that the paper strip is wound on rollerfuntil that part of the same containing the notice has disappeared from said plate h and is replaced by a blank part of the paper strip. To control the notices on the said paper strip, it is merely necessary to rotate the hand-wheel it in the direction of the arrow shown in Fig. 1 to make the notices successively disappear.
Having fully described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is-
lmproved stamp for receipting bills comprising'in combination with the usual handle and casing for the stamping device, a metal frame fixed to the casing, horizontally-situated rollers supported in said frame, to which rollers the ends of a paper strip are attached, prolongations of the horizontal axles of said rollers projecting through the walls of the casing, hand-wheels at the outer end of said horizontal axles, a flattened part at the upper end of the upper part of the casing removable so as to form a cover, an opening in said flattened part, a plate covering this opening and parallel slots in said plate for the passage of the paper strip and a spring fixed to the metal frame so that its ends press on the inner ends of the rolleraxles, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing wit- LOUIS GREINER-VOIGT.
TVitnesses:
A. LIEBERKNECHT, L. MEIER-RIBY.
