Be it known lthat I, THOMAS W. MOORE, of thecity oi' Richmond, 'and State of Indiana, have invented a newandnseful Improvement in Bolt-Cutters; and I do hereby 'declare that the following is a full, clear, and

- My invention relates to a tool for cutting the superfluous ends from bolts, and consists of a pair of tongs, like levers, having their fulcrum-rivet near one end, the operationof-eutting consisting in n. shears-like movement of the levers. The cutting-edge in my invention, however, being'unlike that of shears, is situated on one end ofa lever.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use Ymy invention, I will proceed'to describe it with reference to the drawings.

A represents the lever, on which thecutting-edge is malle. In the accompanying-example, a bit is dovetailedl into the` end of said lever. The cutting-edge may be formed On the end of lever Aitsel, when the latter is composed otsuitable metal, which, if desirable, (as I prop'ose to make the levers of malleable iron, for cheapness in constructiom) may be obtained by forming the enclof leverA suitably for the purpose, and

riveting on asteel end. The lever B is' provided with a rectangular aperture, b, opposite the cuttingedge of` t lever A, which aperture is -made of a size suitable to allow the tool tolbe passed on'said nut, for a. res-t during the Operation ofcutting, which is done by bringing the handle-ends of said levers together, a,nd the bolt` thus clipped olf. For greater durability, the screw or holte is made of steel.

v'lhe advantages` of my invention are, its superior cutting qualities, its simplicity, cheapness, and durability.
