To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VIRGINIA ALICE OAs- SELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Snakecreek, in the county of Carroll and State of Virginia, have invented a new and useful Dish-Pan, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to dish-washers; and one of the objects thereof is to provide a novel construction of pan or receptacle for use in washing dishes or for analogous purposes in which the medium for heating the liquid will be arranged in direct cooperative relation with the receptacle.
Another object is to provide means whereby the receptacle can be cooled, so that the sup port therefor will not be affected by the temperature of the heating medium.
Further objects and advantages of this invention will appear in the following description, and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the same.
In the preferred embodiment of my invention the pan or liquid-receptacle 1 is illustrated as being approximately rectangular and is divided into a plurality of compartments by a vertical partition 2, intersected by an approximately cylindrical seat 3 for the reception of a removable fire-pot 4, snugly fitting therein, so as to heat the sides of the seat 3 and raise the temperature of the liquid Within the compartments 5 and 6, and this fire-pot 4: preferably extends through the bottom of the receptacle and is provided with perforations 4 in its bottom.
In order to facilitate the consumption of the fuel within the fire-pot 4, as well as to permit a free circulation of air under the bottom of the receptacle, I provide a chamber 6, which is illustrated as comprising a supplemental bottom 8, connected to the receptacle 1 by the perforated flange 9, through which the air can enter and pass up through the openings 4: of the fire-pot 4, which will maintain a circulation so long as ignited fuel is contained within the pot. This circulation of air serves a dual purpose-that of feeding the fire and exercising a cooling influence upon the bottom 8 of the flue, so that the table or other support on which the device rests will not be afiected by the heat generated in the fire-pot. The lower fuel-containing end of the fire-pot is preferably extended through the bottom of the liquid-receptacle into the chamber 6' to provide for the efficient heating of that portion of the fire-pot which extends through the liquid-receptacle to afford the maximum heating-surface for the liquid contained in saidreceptacle.
One of the compartments 5 or 6 will ordinarily be used for washing the articles, and the other will serve to rinse them, although both may be used for either purpose, if desired. After the washing or rinsing has been performed the liquid can be drawn from either or both of the receptacles by means of the cooks or faucets 10 and 11.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is l. Adish-pan havinga partition, aseat carried by the partition and a heating device seated in said seat.
2. A dish-pan having a vertical'partition, a seat carried by the partition intermediate its ends, and a heating device carried by the seat.
7 3. A dish-pan having a hollow base and a fire-pot in communication with said base and supported above the same.
4:- A dish-pan having a vertical partition, an interposed seat carried by the partition, and a heating device carried by the seat.
