I claim as my invention 1. An electric-lamp socket, comprising a cup member and base member of porcelain or other suitable vitrified material, metal plates secured in recesses in the base member and with which the line-wires make contact, conductor-plates on the under side of the cup member and connections therefrom to the metallic lamp-socket and center thereof, and screws passing through apertures in said cup member outside of the socket, through the conductor-plates and into the plates of the base member to both complete the electric circuit and connect the parts.
2. An electric-lamp socket, comprising a cup member of elongated rectangular form made of porcelain or other suitable vitrified material, a base member of similar form and material having longitudinally-disposed cen-' tral recesses, metal plates secured in said recesses and with which the line-wires make contact, metal plates on the under side of the cup member, screws passing through said cup member and securing said metal plates to the center or" the cup-shaped member and to the metallic lam p-socket,andscrews passing through apertures of the cup member at opposite points outside the cup-shaped portion, passing through said metal plates and engaging the plates of the base member to'connect the parts and complete the electric circuit.
3. An eleotriclamp socket, comprising a cup member of porcelain or other suitable vitrified material, and having a central cupshaped portion and provided with openings exteriorly of the same and diametrically opposite each other, a metallic lamp -socket adapted to fit within said cup-shaped portion, metallic devices on the under side of said cup member, means for securing one of said metallic devices to said cup member, means for connecting the other of said metallic devices to the said cup member and electrically to said metallic lamp-socket, a base member of the same material and configuration as the cup member, other metallic devices secured in either end of said base, binding-posts by which line-wires may be secured to said other metallic devices, and means passing through said openings in the cup member for simultaneously holding the parts together and contacting electrically with both sets of said metallic devices to close the electric circuit through the lamp.
4. An electric-lamp socket, comprising a cup member of porcelain or other vitrified material and having a central cup-shaped portion,and provided with openings placed at dia metrically opposite points exteriorly of said cup-shaped portion, a metal plate on the under side of the-cup member, means passing through the center of said cup-shaped portion and adapted to secure the said metal plate to the cup member, a metallic lampsocket adapted to fit in the said cup-shaped portion, a second metallic plate on the under side of said cup member, means for securing the same to the cup member and electrically to the said metallic lamp-socket, a base member of the samematerial and configuration as the cup member, metallic plates secured in either end of said base member, binding-posts for securing line-wires to said plates, and screws passing through the said openings in the cup member, contacting with the plates secured on the under side thereof and screwing into the said plates secured in the base member to simultaneously hold the parts together and complete the electric circuit through the lamp.
5. An electric-lamp socket, comprising a cup member of elongated rectangular form and made of porcelain or other vitrified material and having an integral central cupshaped portion and provided with openings placed at diametrically opposite points exteriorly of said cup-shaped portion, a metal plate on the underside of the cup member,a screw passing through the center of said cupshaped portion and adapted to secure thesaid metal plate to the cup member, a metallic lamp-socket adapted to fit within the said cupshaped portion, a metal plate havinga semicircular portion on the under side of said cup member, screws for securing the same to the cup member and connecting the same electrically to the said metallic lamp-socket, a base member of the same material and configuration as the cup member and having longitudinally-disposed tallic plates secured to the recesses in either end of said base member, binding-posts for securing line-wires to the said plates, and screws passing through the said openings in the cup member, contacting with the plates secured on the under side thereof and screwing into the said plates secured in the base member to simultaneously hold the parts together and complete the electric circuit through the lamp.
