GAS STOVE OR HEATER;
SPEGIFICATION forming part f Letters Patent No. 734,732, dated July? 2s, 1 eo Application nled September 13,1902. Serial No'. 123,225. (No model.) A
To @ZZ whom, it mcty'concerlt:
Be it known that I, EDGAR D. Monss, a citi-` zen of the United States, residing at Uuioutown, in the county of Fayette and Stateof Pennsylvania, have inventeda new and use' ful Improvement in Gas Stovesor Heaters, of which improvement the following isa specification.
This invention relates to an improved gasstove; and it consists in the certain details l of construction andcombination of partsas will be fully described hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a central sectional elevation of my improved stove. Fig. 2 is a sectional plan view of the stove, the said section being taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a perspective viewof the partition arranged at the rear by means of which the waste products of combustion are with my invention, I forni from sheet metal'y the body portion of the stove l, consisting of- Fig. l of the drawings. Arranged at the openconducted to the chimney-flue. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the triangular iiues arranged side by side at the front of the stove and adapted to be covered with a coat- `ing of asbestos or mineral wool along their front or exposed surface. l To construct a gas-stove in Vaccordance the side walls, the back, base, and` rear wall, and a perforated top 2, the whole being formed somewhat in the shape of a rectangular box, as will beseen by reference to front of this stove and in parallel :vertical lines are a series of angular tubes 8, each of which are formed from thin sheet metal, the
acute angles of which are ar'ranged'in verticaly lines in front for the purpose of forming a.` fire-board. Each of these exposed surfaces of;
the above-mentioned tubes 8 are fitted with an asbestos or mineral-wool covering 5 fora purpose well known in the construction of this class of stoves'.` AArranged at the rear of these above-mentioned angular tubes 8 is a parti` tion-Wall 10, extending from side to side and from a point near the base to the top 2. At the rear of this partition l0 is a fiue 12, leading to the chimney or vent 13, the said flue being formed from sheet metal, (see Fig. 4,).
the same being riveted in a vertical position to the rear wall 15 of the stove. Fitted at the front near the base and in `a horiz/ontal position are two brackets 6, used for the puV pose 0f supporting a horizontal burner 7 of any desired form, but preferably of cylindrical form, having perforations on.the inner side, whereby the admiXture of gas and air -are projected toward the iirelfront 5.
In operation the gas entering the'burner 7 through the mixer below istdivided by the langular walls of the tubes 8 and by its combustion heats the angular tubes.- The air circulating through the tubes from the base will gather heat and be discharged into the room through the perforations 3 at the top. The waste products of combustionfwill pass through an opening l8`at the top ofthe partition l0 and pass downward, as indicated by the arrows, to the chamber 9, thence upward `through the line l2 to the escape 13.
Itis obvious that various slight Vmodifications and changes may be made inthe general details of construction without departing from the spirit 0f the invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire t0 secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. In a gasst0ve,the combination of a metal body comprising side walls, back, base, and rear wall, of a perforated top, a series of vertically-arranged tubes substantially triangularin cross-section, the front faces of said ."tubesbeing covered with a iireproof covering,
a 'partition arranged `between said side walls andtbeing of less height than the length of said tubes, a substantially U-shaped plate secured to the said backforming a flue therebetweemand a horizontally-arranged burner lin .front of said tubes, substantially as de scribed.
2. In agas-stove,the com bination'of ametal body, comprising side walls, back, base, and
rear Wall, of a perforated top, a burner, a seriesrof vertically-arranged tubes substantially triangular in cross-section ,with their inclined sides directed toward the said burner, said tubes being spaced apart, a covering for the front of said tu bes, said coverngarrauged in the spaces between said tubes, a partition arranged between said4 tubes and said back and being of less height than the length of signed my name in the presence of two subthe said tubes, asubstantially U-shaped plate scribing Witnesses.4 between said partition and said back, and being secured to said back, and plate being of EDGAR D' MORSS 5 less length than the height of said partition, ln presence ofsubstantially as described. s LOUIS MOESER,
In testimony whereof I have hereunto M. HUNTER.
