SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 733,830, dated July 14, 1903. Application led October 26, 1901, Serial No. 80,122. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GoTrLIEB K. F. FRANKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and useful Sash-Light Secu rer, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates generally to windowsashes, and more particularly to an improved construction of sash and means for securing the sash lights or glass therein, theobject being to provide a simple and eficient means whereby the use of putty is dispensed with.
. The invention consistsin the novel features of construction and combination, all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claim. l
In the drawings forming a part of this speci- Iication, Figure l is a perspective view illustrating the practical applicationof my invention, a part of the side rail andcentral stile of the sash being broken away to disclose the details of construction'. .Fig. 2is a horizontal sectional view'of a .window-sash constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 3 is a perspective lview showing one corner of the sash. Fig. 4 is a detail showing a section of the fastening-strip, and Fig.- 5 is a` sectionall view illustrating a slightly-modified construc'-A to fit into the offset of the strips, the said strips tion.
Referring to the drawings, A indicates the window-sash, of which Aindicates the side rails, and A2 the central stile. Each side rail is formed withan outer shoulder B and an inner shoulder C, and between the said shoulders B and C the edge or side of the rail is beveled, as shown at D, and the central stile is Vover the shoulder C.
In Fig. 5 I have shown the rail as constructl ed Withla groove H, in whichwiits the tongue H', formed upon the strip H2, and the operation of the parts in this construction is identical with th'eoperation of the parts in the construction illustrated in Figs. 1, 2,'and 3. g
Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim as new, anddesire to secure by v Letters Patent of the United States, is'v In a window the combination with the window-pane, of stripshaving an inclined face and an odset, andthe side rails of a window- ,sash,.said rails having oppositely-inclined faces and outer and innershoulders, one of said shoulders being adapted to bear against one side of thewindow-'panaand the'other bearing on the inclined faces of -the rails.
