WIRE CLOTH HOLDER. APPLICATION IILIID MAB. a, 1902.
NO MODEL.
. is a full, clear, and exact description,- refer-v UNITED` STATES PATENT l-@OEETCE HENRY M. KEIM AND JOSEPH A. PRATI-IER, OF CARTHAGE, MISSOURI.
WIRE-CLOTH HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 723,678, dated March 24, 1903.
Application filed March 8| 1902,. Serial No. 97,805. '(No model.) Y
To @ZZ whom it may concern." Y
Be it known that we, HENRY M. KEIM and JOSEPH A. FEATHER, citizens of the United States, residing in Carthage, in the county of Jasper and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wire-Cloth Holders, of which the following ence being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
Our invention relates to a s tore device for holding` rolls of wire-cloth in such manner that the rolls will be prevented from unwinding or spreading and from which the cloth is readily withdrawn and Icut off into suitable lengths for customers.
Our invention consists in features of nov-Y elty hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims. .l
Figure I is an end view of our Wire-.cloth holder. Fig. II is a top or plan view. Fig. III is an end view of the stationary form of holder. v Y
1 designates a supporting-frame mounted on a base 2 and snrmounted by bearing-boxes 8, that receive a rotatable shaft 4:.
l5 designates frames mounted-in pairs on the shaft 4 and united by a connecting-sleeve bolted to the frame and loosely surrounding said shaft. a series of curved arms 6, that each terminate in proximity to the adjacent arms to provide pockets or receptacles adapted to receive the rolls A of wire-cloth, and delivery-openings to permit the passage of the cloth from said pockets between the terminations of said arms and the backs of the adjacent arms, which delivery-openings are approximately in a plane with the lower wall of the pocket when in the delivery position.
7 designates supporting-rollers for the rolls A of wire-cloth, the said rollers beingjournaled in the frames 5 at the inner ends of the arms 6, and 8 designates rollers inthe outer ends or terminations of the arms under which the wire-cloth passesas it is drawn from the pockets within the arms, as se'en in Fig. I, the
said rollers 7 and 8 providing for the ready rotation of the cloth-rolls in withdrawing the sheet of cloth from the holder. On the back of each frame-arm 6 is a boss 9, that is adapted to engage a recess l0 in a spring-catch 11, xed at one end to the frame l of the holder 4to hold it from rotation. wire-cloth is then drawn outwardly over the Each frame 5 is provided with' and provided with a free end l2, upon which the foot of a person may be placed to depress the catch and free the frame for rotation.
13 designates a table mounted adjacent to the frame, over which the cloth is drawn when taken from the holder.
In the practical use of the holder the frames 5 are rotated until the roll of wire-cloth A to be drawn upon is brought into proximity to the table 13, and the spring-catch 1l engages the stud 9 on one of the arms 6 of the frame' The end of the table 13.
In Fig. `III we have shown a stationary frame 5b, provided with arms 6b, within which are pockets adapted to receive rolls of wirecloth that aresupported upon the rollers 7b.
'In the terminations of the arms 6b are rollers 8b, against which the wire-cloth travels as it is withdrawn from thepockets in the frame.
AW'e claimras our invention- 1. In a device of the class described, the combination of a frame having curved arms providing*cloth-roll-receiving pockets, having delivery-openings approximately in a plane with the lower wall of the pocket when in delivery position, roll-supporting rollers journaled in said frame, and rollers mounted in the terminations of said arms, substantially as described.
2. In a holder of the class described, the combination of a rotatable frame having curved arms providing cloth-roll-receiving pockets having delivery-openings approximately in a plane with the lower wall of the pocket when in delivery position, roll-supporting rollers mounted in said frame and rollers mounted in the terminations of said arms.
3. In a device of the character described, the combination of a frame having curved arms, rollers journaled in the frame andvsupporting the goods when in delivering position, and rollers mounted in theterminalsof said arms to counteract the friction of the cloth against the curvedarms. l'
