- To all. whom it may concern:

\ Beit known that I, WILLIAM J AOKSON ASH- BY, a citizenv of the United States, residing at Independent Hill, in the county of Prince William and State of Virginia, have invented construction and novelties of combination and' arrangement, as will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in" the claims, reference being had to the drawings, in which-- Figure 1 is a perspectiveyiew illustrating my holder in use. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the holder detached from the wall. Fig. 3 isa side elevation in'position. Fig. 4 is a face view ofthe holder. Fig. 5 is a detail section-on the line 55 of Fig. 3, showing the broom in position.

In constructing a broom-holder in accordance with my invention I employ a single strand of spring-wireA,ben.t at its middle to, form an eye A,-from which depends the ver- 0 tical'parallel members A which are bent at their lower ends in opposite directions to form the outward and .rearward portions B, said outward and rearward portions being arranged substantially upon a compound- 5 curved line, as shown in Fig. 5. Each strand is then bent at B and is extended forwardly in a convergent direction, forming side members, as shown at B to a point B where each member is bent upwardly and. downwardly 40 to provide the front-retaining loop members E4, the downwardly-extending member of the loops being bent, as at B and extended inward, as at B in substantially a parallel position and have their ends finally terminating in eyes B that encircle the lateral'portions B.

By constructing a holder as described I provide a strong, durable, and simple device that will always retain its shape, and by reference to Fig. 5 of the drawings it will .be seen that when a broom-handle is inserted in the holder the vertical spring portions A and the rearwardly-extending parallel members Serial No. 112,680. other of all strain and at thesame time would .be sufliciently'strong'to securely hold the broom'in position, and, further, by having themembers'B arranged upon a compound curve the members B will be held against extreme movement by reason of the eyes ongaging the sides of the portion B at the point indicated by the reference character B in Fig. 5' of the drawings.

A holder constructed as described can be manufactured at an exceedingly small cost and will be strong and durable in construction and can be quickly and easily fastenedv to any object by means of a screw passing through the eye A, as clearly shown in Fig.3.

Having thus fully'described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A broom-handle formed of aisingle piece of wire bent in its central portion to form an forwardly and upwardlyinto retaining-loops,

A broom-holder formed of a single strand of wire which is bent at the middle to form an'eye from which depends the vertical spring portions whose lowerends are extended latorally in substantially a compound-curved line, the side members extending from the laterally-extended portionsa'nd are bent at their forward ends-to providethe retainingloops, the rearwardly -extending members, the extreme ends of which being bent toform eyes that encircle the lateral compoundcurved portions, substantiallyas shown.
