. TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that TiIEODORE H. TAYLOR, late of Saratoga Springs, in the county of Saratoga, and State of New York, but now deceased, invented a new 'and'improved Medicinal Pill; and I, HARRIETE. TAYLOR, of .the same place, executrix of the last will and testament of theaforesaid THEODORE H. TAYLOR, do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the said invention.
The object of this invention is to provide a medicine which will not only be extremely efiicacious in liver complaints, but the use of which will also purify the blood,-and also regulate the bowels of the patient, without the sickening or'griping pains frequently attendant upon the employment of the Ordinary cathartic remedies, or the constipation which often results from their action.
To enable others to fully understan the nature of my invention, I will proceedto describe its composition and mode of preparation. 4 I I In inaking'the pills I take, by weight, of powdered podophylin, ten (10) parts; of Socotrine aloes, twentyfour (24) parts; of powdered colocynth, twelve (12) parts; Jamaica ginger, six (6) parts cayenne pepper, one part; powdered gum-gamboge, six (6) parts. These materials having heenmoistened sufiiciently, should be rubbed or manipulated in a mortar, or other appropriate apparatus, until the mass assumes the pasty condition required in dividing, and moulding it into-pills. After being brought into this-condition, the mass is divided into parts weighing about two grains each, which are then formed into the requisite spherical shape, and, if desired, coated with sngar,'by any suitable means or appliances. It is designed that a dose, in disorders of any ordinary character, shall consist of from two to four pills, which may, however, be varied according to the age of the patient, or other' attendant circumstances.
What I claim as the invention of the late THEODORE H. TAYLOR, and desire-to secure by- Letters Patent, is The pills composed of the ingredients herein set forth, in about the proportions specified.
