IMPROVEMENT IN LUBRICATORS FOR JOURNALS.

To ALL WHoM IT MAY ooNcERn:
Be it known that I, Monms SELLERS, of K eokuk, in the county of Lee, and State of Io\va,thav e invented' an Improvement in Lubricating Oil-Guns; anti I `do hereby (leelare that the following is a full, clear, and
exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the attached (lrawings,`
making a part of this specification, of whichf Figure 1 is an elevation partially insection.
t Figure 2 is a plan-- i 4 4 t Similar letters in each referring to similar parts.
The objectvtof my invention is to so arrange the parts of a lubrieating oil-cup that the flow'oftoil may be. regulated, nnd the feed-hole or openingthrough which the cup is replcnishefl so mad-e as to be reatlily opene t and closed. t
The nature' of my invention consists in arrangng a. fine-tureaded screw-plug to regulate the floti' of oil, and in screwing ou a cap which, when partially'unscrewed, brings two holes opposite, but whentscrewe down tight covers the lower' hole, thus closing the Icup. o i
In order that my invention may be fully understood in reference to its mode of operation, I will now procee to explain it in cletail. t
Fig. 1 is thc cup, with Chamber B filled with oil through hol es'a, a, and dischargerl on the parts through feed-hole C, 'which discharge is regulated by concal plug D fitting into conical seat in C, and passing through o outer cover E, and screwing through inner cover F, by which means it is raised or lowered, to contract oi' enlarge the openingin C, thereby allowing a greater or less flow of oil on the parts to be lubricate, and from its application and position being always easy of 4access to the operater, and best adapted for, the uses and purfposes as specified. Fig. 2 is' the plan of revolving capiorcover E, which is screwed down on inner cover F hy means of screw-thread G, bywvh'i'ch means a tight ,joint'is efected and the oil not allowed to be thrown out hy'` f the motion of the machinery to which it is attache, while from its construction it can bo easily opened by unscrewing until it is arrcste by set-screw H, which, working in a groove, will not allow the cover t'o be turned back but a certain distance, when the holes a d will be opposite, and the cup open. a
l I-know that holes have been opened and closetl by slicling or revolving covers and fcedsi'cgulated by conical plugs; but..
What I claim to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The conical plug D, in combination with the screxv-closing cup E, suhstnntially asescrihed, and for the` purposes specfied.
