Description
@with 'faire' stwt {firs} ALONZO M. 'DARLINGn DAVENPORT, IOWA, Letters .Patent No. 71,286, dated November 26, 1867.
IMPROVED BAIl'i-HOLDER` AND FILLER.
To ALL WHoM rr MAY ooNcERN;
Be it known that I, ALONZO M. DARLING, ofthe 'city of Davenport, in the county of Scott, and State of P Iowa, have inventcrlcertain new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Holding' and Filling Grain-Sacks;
and I do herebydeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, like letters indicating like parts wherever they occur,
To enable others skilled in the art to construct and use my invention, I'will proceed-to describe it.
Figure 1 is a perspective view ofthe apparatus.
Figure 2 is a perspective view ofthe bottom portion of saine, boxes being removed.
Figure 3 shows one of the boxes or measures separate.
A represents a frame or bottom, on which the revolving platform or wheel B is set, said wheel turning upon a centre pivot at a. O C represent tl\e'grain-boxes or measures, which maybe made ofthe form shown, or any other form desirable. D is an upright post, to Ywhich is attached an arm, E. Extending downwardfrom saidl arm E, and fastened firmly in it, is the strong spring-wire'F, of the form shown, vand projecting from said arm E to thefront is the wirevG, also rmlyhset in the anu E. Said wire G has coiled springs b'formed in it, as shown. These wires distend and hold the mouth of the sack, es shown by dotted red lines.
In using this machine, one box, C, is standing upon' the wheel B and receiving the grain from the spout of fan or cleaner, and the operator places the other box, already emptied, in its proper place upon the wheel, and then turns the wheel around, bringing the empty box under the 'grain-spout, and the full one around to his hands, saving the necessity of walking back and forward to remove and replace them.
Having thus described my invention, ivhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The two distinct springs F and Gr, sustaining and holding open the sack Without fastenings, and leaving the space under the holder and around the sack free and open.
l2. The combination of a bag-holder, as shown,` with the turn-table B, all arranged substantiallyss and for the purposes setfcrth.
ALONZO M. DARLING.
