T0 ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, HENRY M.- CLEMENCE, of Worcester, county'of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented a new Improvement in Garment-Supporters; and I do hereby declare that the following isv a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a. part of this specification, in whichi Figure 1 is a perspective' view,
Figure 2 a longitudinal section, and
' Figure 3 a cross or transverse section.
The garment-supporter consists of a hanger, A, having a slot cut through the lower part, through which the Wires B and C are passed, and can be held fast in any position in which they are placed by 'means of the thumb set-screw D. The wire B has on one end a ferrule, E, part of which is fastened rmly to .the said wire, and a part of which acts 'as a guide to the wire C, which slides easily therein. The wire C has also a similar ferrule, F, fastened to it, which forms a. guide to the wire B. G is apiece against which the thumb-screw D acts when clamping the arms B and C. Fig. 2 shows a section of the supporter cut longitudinally, with the arms opened about one-half the extent of which it is capable. In hg. 1, the supporter is shown contracted. The hanger A has a hat or clothes-hook, H, projecting from the front, and is a part ofthe said hanger A. The upper part of the hanger A is formed into a ring or eye, J, by means of which the supporter can be hung upon a nailor hook.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is* i The movable metal' arms B and C, in connection with the hanger A and thumb-screw D, by means of which the supporter is adjustable to garments of any size. l I I HENRY M. CLEMENCE.
