Be it known that I, JOHN BEAUNINGEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lorain, in the county of Lorain and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Cup, of which the following is a specification. I

This invention relates to heating-cups, and more particularly to that class adapted to be placed upon a lamp-chimney for the purpose of heating milk, water, or other liquid substances.

The object of the invention is to provide a simply-constructed, cheap, eflicient, and durable cup for the purpose specified which when placed upon a lamp-chimney, either of the pearl-top type or plain-top type, will utilize the heat from the lamp in the mostadvantageous manner to effect rapid heating of any substance in the cup; furthermore, to provide a cup the bottom of which shall be so constructed as not to interfere with the combustion of the lamp and which shall present increased surface for radiation of heat, thereby to hasten the heating of any-substance placed in the cup.

With this and other objects in view, as-will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction and combination of parts of a heating-cup, as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, and in which like numerals of reference indicate the corresponding parts, I have illustrated a form of embodiment of my invention capable of carrying my ideas into effect, it being understood that the elements herein exhibited may be varied or changed as to shape, proportions, and exact manner of assemblage without departing from the scope of my invention, and in these drawings Figure 1 is a View in perspective, exhibiting a cup embodying the essential features of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section through the cup, the cup being exhib ited as resting upon the upper portion of the lamp-chimney.

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a cup, which may be made of any suitable material; 2, the bottom; 3, the draft-tube, which extends above the rim of the cup, and ithe handle. In constructing the cup of this invention the same may be made, if preferred, of a single piece of metal with the bottom and sides integral and with the draft-tube suitably associated therewith, or it may be made in the usual manner-that is to say, with the body and bottom separate elements and with the draft-tube associated with the bottom, as by solder or the like. The rim 5 of the cup is herein shown as beaded in order to facilitate pouring out of the contents of the cup, as will be well understood.

In order to adapt the cup for use in connection with a fluted or pearl-top chimney or with a plain-top chimney and also to increase the heating-surface of the bottom, the same is shown as provided with radial corrugations 6, which may extend from the draft-tube 3 outward to the sides of the cup, as shown in Fig. 1, or may extend from a point near the drafttube to a point near said sides, as may be preferred. It will be readily appreciated that when these corrugations are provided the updraft of the chimney is in no way interfered with and that, further, the heat-radiating surface is very largely augmented. The drafttube 3 may be associated with the bottom in any preferred manner or may constitute an integral part thereof and operates in the wellknown manner to carry off the unconsumed products of combustion from the lamp and also operates to give added heat-surface to the cup.

The form of-cup herein shown is exceedingly simple of construction, and as the parts are capable of being made and assembled by an ordinary mechanic it may be made and sons requiring such a utensil.

What Iclaim is- A lamp heating-cup comprising a body having its lower end fluted, a bottom having radial corrugations registering with the flutes, and a centrally-disposed draft-flue carried by the bottom and extending above the rim of the body. v
