ALMAv C. MILLER, OF MKEESPORT, PENNSYLVANIA.
WIN DOW-CU R-TAIN BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 708,381, dated September 2,1902.
Application led .Tune 5. 1902. Serial No. 110,309. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom t may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALMA C. MILLER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at McKeesport, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Curtain Brackets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in window curtain brackets, and has for its object a device of this character which shall embrace novel means whereby a curtain-pole supporting the curtain may be readily adjusted in a vertical direction.
A still further object of the invention is to enable the two ends of the curtain-pole to be adjusted in the desired direction simultaneously.
The invention has for its further object a device of this character which shall be of simple and economical constructionY as well as eflicient in operation and cheap to manufacture.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device, showing the same attached to a window-frame. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof.
The Window-frame (designated by the numeral 1) at its upper end receives the baseplatesv 2 at each side thereof, which baseplates are preferably of a rectangular form, as shown. Extending outwardly from the base-plate, at right angles thereto and near the upper end thereof, is an arm 3, bifurcated at its outer end, as at 4, and receiving therein the pulley 5, grooved throughout its periphery. This pulley is adapted to freely revolve upon the pin 6, which passes therethrough and is secured in the bifurcated end of the arm 3. A supporting memeven manner.
In operation it will be noted that the curtain-pole may be readily locked in any desired position by merely knotting the free ends 18 of the cords at such position that when the knot is engaged by the locking member 16 the pole will occupy the desired position. This can be readily determined by pulling down upon the free ends 18 of the cords and tying the knot therein, the knot being engaged by the locking member and preventing the pole from having any further downward movement.
While Ihave shown in this illustration the most practical embodiment of my invention, still it is obvious that slight changes may be made in the details of construction and combination of parts without departing from the general spirit of my invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a device of the type set forth, the combination with a Window-frame,`of a base-plate carrying an arm bifurcated at its outer end with a pulley mounted in the bifurcated portion, an eyelet carried by the base-plate, a curtain-pole having hooks on its lower side to receive the curtain, hooks on the upper side ot' the pole with cords engaging said hooks, passing over said pulley and through the eyelets carried by the base-plate, eyelets carried pass through said eyelets and have their free ends knotted and passed through said eyelet located intermediate of the Window-frame, 15 with the knotted portion on the under side of the eyelet, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof 1 afx my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
ALMA C. MILLER.
by the Window-frame at the corners thereof, Witnesses: and an eyelet secured intermediate the Width JOHN NOLAND, of' said Window-frame, said cord adapted to R. A. RUREO.
