Description

Patented Sept. .2, I902.
G. G. MEYER. DOOR HANGER. (Applicatimi mea'A r. 9, 1902.;
(No Model.)
J is afull, clear, and exact description thereof.
I angle-ironsH, depending lower horizontal tion of the suspension- UNITED STATES LATENT Oiricn,
GEORGE G, MEYER, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
DOOR-HAN G ER.
To all whom it n tzty concern.- 7
Be it known that I, GEORGE G. MEYER, a citizen of theUnited States, and a resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new-and useful Improvements in Door-Hangers and-I'do hereby declare that the following I The improvements consist-in certain -peculiarities of construction. and combination of parts hereinafter particularly set forth with reference to the accompanying drawings and subsequently claimed,- the nain object of theinvention'being to provide for the utilization of sliding doors to close openings in narrow partitions that of themselves are made to'serve as the pockets for the doors.
Figure 1 of the drawings represents a partly sectional elevation'of a portion ofa sliding door and my improved means for suspending the same, and Fig. 2 a transverse sectional View indicated by lines 2 2 in the first figure. Y
Referring by letter to the drawings, A indi cates a stationary suspension-bar supported within a partition of'a building; B, an adj usting-bar held in connection with the bar aforesaid by means of screw-bolts C and nuts D, these nuts being preferably seated in wash ers E, that are countersunk in the upper porbar, between which and the adjusting-bar a fulcrum-block F'for the latter bar is shown held in place by one of said bolts. Secured on the upper side of the adjusting-bar, adjacent to the end of same farthest from the fulcrum -block, are fiat springs. G, that impinge against the under side of the suspension-bar; but a spring of some other form maybe substituted if found necessary or desirable.
Made fast to opposite sides of the adjusting-bar by screws. or other suitable means are portions of which serve as parallel tracksfor rollers I, that are preferably provided with tires of rubber or'other elastic material. The rollers arefast in pairs on spindles J, that have their bearings'in brackets K, attachable to a door L by screws or other suitable means, said brackets being preferably made to have angle fit on the door. w

same inadjusted position. By turning the screw-bolts from below the angle ofv the adjusting-bar is readilyi'egulated on its 111- crum-block F to compensate for settle or other causes. having atendency to prevent the door from coming flush with the jam'bs of the openfor which it constitutes lug in the partition a closure.
Having thus described I claim as new, and desire Patent, is-- 1. The combination of astationary suspension-bar, an adjusting-bar held in connection with the suspension-bar by screw bolts and nuts, a spring under tension between said bars adjacent to ends of same, angle-irons in connection with adjustingbar having depending lower portions constituting parallel tracks, brackets attachable to a door, spindles carried by the brackets, and rollers on the spindles adapted to bear on the tracks.
to secure by Letters The combination of a stationary suspen- I sion-bar, an adj usting-bar held in'connection with the suspension-bar by screw bolts and. nuts, a fulcrum-block intermediate of said bars adjacent to ends of same, angle-irons in connection with the adj usting-barhaving depending horizontal portions constituting pan allel tracks, brackets attachable to a door, spindles carried by on the spindles adapted to bear on the tracks.
3. The combination of a stationary suspem sion-bar, an adj ustin -bar held in connection with the suspension-bar by screw bolts and nuts, a fulcrum-block intermediate of the bars adjacent to ends of same, aspring under tension between said bars adjacent to the ends of same farthest-from the fulcrum-block, angle-irons in connection with adjusting-bar my invention, what the brackets, and rollers having depending lower portions constitutbrackets attachable to a ing parallel tracks,
by the brackets, and
door, spindles carried rollers on the spindles adapted to bearon the tracks.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand,-at Milwaukee, in
the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, in the presence of two witnesses.
GEO. G. MEYER.
