MFEHS. PROT@LII'NOGRPMERn WASHINGTON. Elv CV @nimh tats etnt @frn JACOB CORNWELL, yOF KALAMAZO'O, MICHIGAN Letters Patent 1Y0. 76,806, dated November 12, 1867.
IMPROVBD SILENT BOLT-FEEDER.
TO ALL WHOM I'l MAY OONCERN:
Be it known that I, JACOB COnNWELL,-of Kalamazoo, in theA State of Michigan, have invented -certain newy .and useful improvements in Silent Bolt-Feeders; and I hereby declare that the following is affull, trueand exact description of the some, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, a-nd to the letters of reference mzirked thereon. In the dra-wings annexed, which. make a. part of this speciiicetion- Figure 1 representen side elevation of my feeder. v Figure 2 is a. vertical section of the same teken through the centre.
The letter A designates the frame of my machine, which is strengthened by the oapf'pieces I and tier AD i represents a. hoop mede of tiny suitable material, the seid hoo'p restingpn'the sillE, and supported `at its -opposite sides by the'cap-pieces b. F designer-es e. spindle, with its lower epd resting on the foot-block y, und extending lupwards yat the centre of hoop D to'about two-thirds ofthe height of D. mand n are two'circulnr platforms, through the centre of which the spindle F passes,4 the s'nirl platforms being keyed to F, so as to partake of' its motion. The lower-platform 'm is bolted'to the arm f, which, with the motionof spindle F, will pliyA on the bottom of vhoop D. The :trmfis designed, as it rev conduct it to the mouth of tlie spout z'. H represents another hoop placed inside of hoop D. Between the 4hoops H and D there will be space of :in inch, more or less, to admit of a. freecirculntion of air. The hoop H is formed withn H ange at top, which is fastened to the circuler opening in top G. Embracing the hoop H is e. forked leven-(see iig. 3,-) the tines-of which eremade to embrace the hoop H at opposite points, midway of the circumference of H, the ends of said tines being allowed to play in loops on the side of hoop s. The object' of lever L is to regulate the quantity of fiour that passes from the platforms m nndn into the spout t', which cori-ies the flour to the bolt. Motion is given to the plntforms'm and n by bevel-wheel z, on spindle F, the'said bevelwheel being geared into driving-wheel c, I i The object of myinvention is to spread out the ionrl as soon as it is received from betwe and ventilato it before it enters into thebolt. By this operation` the clogging ofthe bolt will beprevented. Having thus described my invention, whet I claim, :rnd desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- A 1. lThe revolving platform m, provided with scraper f, in combination with the revolving platform n, stentielly in the manner set forth. l
2. In combination with the subject-mutter of the above, I ela-im lever L and bnnd s, substantially as described. In testimony that I clziiin the above I set my signature in presence of two witnesses.
i JACOB CORNWELL.
