Letters Patent No. 70,454, dated November 5, 1857.
IMPROVED LUBRICATING OIL.
I TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, CYRUS MQORE, of East Saginaw, in the county of Saginaw, and State of Michigan, invented a new and useful Method of Manufacturing Lubricatin just and accurate description thereof.
I will rlescribethe manufacture of a given quantity of ten gallons of the oil, and give the proportions of each of the ingredients used, so that any one can make their own calculations of the quantities of each neces sary to be used in the manufacture of any other given quantity.
Take ten gallons of coal tar, brought to a boiling heat, and then run it through any proper rectifier, to' separate any earthy or other itnpure matter from it. After rectifying the coal tar, add to one gallon of benzine, one gallon of sperm oil, and one quart of alcohol. The result will produce a fine lubricating oil.
What I claim as my iriifention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The method of manufacturing a lubricating oil by the process described.
