Application filed January 14,1902. Serial No. 89,650. (No model.)
To all witmn it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY MosBAUcHER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at VVilkinsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Palm-Rests,of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
usefulimprovementsin adjustable palm-rests for guns, and is particularly adapted to be employed and secured to target-guns for target practice.
The present inventionhas for its object to provide a target-gun-with an adjustable palmrest that may be easily attached and removed from thelever or trigger guard.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a deviceof the above-described character that will be extremely simple in construction, strong, durable, comparatively inexpensive to manufacture, and highly efficient in its'use.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts, to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and where in like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughoutthe several views, in which-'- Figure l is a vertical'sectional view of my improved adjustable palm-rest, showing the same applied in position to a gun, the latter being illustrated in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a perspective viewshowing the invention in use.-
In the drawings, the reference-numeral 1 indicates the gun, and'2 the trigger. The numeral 3 represents the lever or trigger the palm-rest, which consists of a spherical body portion 4, having formed therein a central'opening 5, extending a considerable distance into the body portion 4. In this opening 5 is secured acylindrical casing 6, ex-
tending upwardly a distance above the body This invention relates to certain new and guard. Upon this trigger-guard is secured.
portion at. Said cylindrical casing 6 carries an annular inwardly-extending shoulder 7 and has formed in the base ascrew-threaded opening 8 to receive the screw-threaded shank 9, and the clampingmembers 1O 11 represent a recess formed in the base of the body portion 4 for the reception of the threaded stem 9.
The manner of applying my improved device is as follows: The body portion 4,to which to allow the clamping members to extend bethe cylindrical casin g 6 islsecured, is revolved yond the casing, as shown in full lines in Fig.
2 of the drawings. triggersguard is then secured endwise into the opening between the clamping members, and the gun is then turned in proper-position-and the spherical body portion. 6 revolved to the position as shown in Fig.2, thereby clamping the lever outrigger guard into;"tl1e jaws of r the palm-rest.
The spherical body by reason of its shape forms a most convenient and easy rest to hold within the palm of the hand and affords a steady support for the gun'during'the aiming and firing of the same. The body beingmov ably mounted on the trigger-guard permits of the former occupying any desired positionwhich may be found 'most convenient to the operator.
It will be seen that the device may be easily adjusted to any desired position. The many othenadvantages obtained by the use of. my,
