IMPROVED FLOUR-SIFTER.

To ALL WHOM 1T MAY CONOERN:
Be it known that I, JOHN TDEIN, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex, and Statey of New Jersey, have made certain improvements in Family Flour-Sifters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description of the same, reference being had herein to the drawings that accompany this specification', and which make part ofthe same.
My improvement consists in the use of rollers, and in combining them with iiexible rubbers, so as to form a reversible stirring apparatus; also in a convenient manner of attaching the stirrer to and of removing it from the sieveor strainer. A conical vessel, A, is provided with a wire-cloth bottom, z, fig. 2.. A spider, B, spans the top of the vessel A, two of its arms hooking under the wire edge of thetop, the ends of the arms being formed as shown in Eg. 3. The end of the other armis bent down at right angle, and enters a hole in the handle of A, to keep the spider from turning with-the rotation of the shaft X. At the middle of the spider two studs, u u, project downwards, attached at their lower ends to across-bar, inwhich is a bearing for the shaft X. The shaft X, having a spring, p, with a nubor short pin thereon, at its lower extremity, is tted to a socket, S,in the hub of the stirrer C. The nnb on the springp enters the hole o, and keeps the stirrer in place. An arm, t, with the socket-hub S in the middle, has attached thereto two rollers, r r, and two ilexible rubbers, g g, iig. 4.
