BROGK & BRONDIGE.
, Land-Rollerand Plaster-Sower. 7
No. 70,070. Patented 001;.22, 1867.
Inventor:
Witnsses= I L AM. PHOTO-THO. CO; N.Y- (OSBDRNE'S PROCESS) @Initrh grates against glitter.
GEORGE F. BROCK AND ELI BRONDJGE, OF DAVISBURG, MICHIGAN.
Letters Patent No. 70,070, dated October 22, 1867.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED LAND-ROLLER AND PLASTER-SOWER.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that we, Gnonen F. Bacon and ELI BBONDIGE, of Davisburg, in the county of Oakland, and in the State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Land-Roller and Plaster-Sorter; and dohereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
Figure 1 represents a plan view,
Figure 2 a plan view,
-Figure 3 a section of the rollers and connecting-bars, and
Figure 4a section of the hopper.
In the annexed drawings, A represents a frame of suitable construction, having a tongue, B, which is extended over and to the rear of the frame B, dividing it at its centre. 7 This frame A has tliree pendants, A A A one on each .side and one under the bar B. O 0 represent two rollers, of the ordinary construction, which are provided with shafts, e e, fig. 3, running lengthwise through their centres, by which means they are secured to'the pendants A under the frame A. At the outer ends of the rollers C there are pulleys, a a, for operating the revolving plaster-distributor in the hopper. E represents the hopper, which is composed of two pieces of wood or other material, having a concave bottom, in which bottom lies a metal plate, H, which shields a. small opening in the bottom of the hopper formed by the two pieces coming together. This hopper is divided into two equal parts, as shown, and is provided with a distributor, G. This distributor is composed of a. horizontal Shaft, running the entire length of the hopper, with a series of circular disks placed upon it, at equal distance; apart, and connected by diagonal wires. Upon each outer end of this hopper are pulleys, d, which are con nected to the pulleys a on the ends of rollers O by means of ropes or chains, 6, so that in the movement of the rollers the distributer is also revolved. The inner ends of the rollers are connected to the frame by means of two L-shaped metal bars, L L, which are so bent (see fig. 3) as to pass through keepers at each side ofthe bar B, and extend under the frame forward of the rollers, and connect to the pendant A. S represents avlink of metal, which the bars L pass, where the shafts of the rollers are connected to said bars, so that the inner ends of each roller act independently, and can be elevated as hereinafter described. Secured within the keepers, at each side of bar B, are small'rollers, o a, over which ropes or chains m m pass, from pivoted arms K K, to connect the bars L L. p
It will be seen that the drivers seat, D, is secured upon the, frame above the bar B, so that the driver can adjust the rollers to suit the ground by his feet or hands, forcing up the arms K K, and by means of the chains '01 and bars L drawing upwards the rollers. The slide H is operated by a small lever, 2', at the back of the hopper, so that the plaster may be retained in the hopper or allowed to be distributed, at will, this slide being set in the hopper bottom and attached to small pivoted bars It for this purpose. By this invention the ground is effectually prepared by the rollers and the plaster sown at the one operation.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is"- 1. Connecting the inner ends of the rollers C C to the frame A by means of the L-shapcd metal bars L L and-link S, in the manner and for the purposes set forth. I
2. The: arrangement of the frame A, with its rollers G 0, bars L L, arms K K, ropes or chains m m, and
pulleys o o, in the manner and for the purposes set forth.
3. The plaster-distributor G, constructedas set forth, and used in the hopper E, with slide H, when said hopper is connected to the rollers Q by means of the pulleys a and d, with their chains 6, for operating the same, as specified,
'In testimony that we claim the foregoing, we have hereunto set our hands this 22d day of July, 1867.
GEO. F. BROGK, ELI BRONDIGE.
