INHALEB WITH NASAL ATTACHMENT.
(Application filed N016, 1901.

l v UNITED STATES PATENT, O ICE.
GEORGE H. MAURER, or WASHINGTON, DISTRICT or COLUMBIA;
INHA LER WITH NASAL ATTACHMENT.
srlncirrca'riolv forming part of Letters Patent No. 700,528, dated May 2o, 1902.
Application filed November 5, 1901. Serial No. 811225- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
citizen of the United States, residingat No. 611 Seventh street northwest, Washington, District of Columbia, have invented'certain new and useful Improvements in Inhalers with Nasal Attachments; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descrip-- tion of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being 7 had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The invention relatesto inhalers or respirators designed to be applied to the exterior'of the nasal organs in such manner that inhalation of applied medicaments may ensue and prevention of injurious respiratory matter may be provided against; and to these ends the invention consists in the construction and novel combination of the same, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Figure 1 of the drawingsis a view of a human head with the improved inhaler or respirator in place upon the nose of the wearer. Fig. 2 is a view in perspective of the inhaler or respirator detached from the wearer, and Fig. 3 is plan view of thenose-clip and protecting-pads thereto attached. 5
Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings, 1 isthe compressing-spring, to the terminations of which are secured or attached the pad-carrying frames and the retaining or friction-bearingv pads that insure adhesion of the inhaler or respirator to the nose of the wearer; Secured or attached to the compressing -spring and padcarrying frames is an open nose-stall of woven textile.
or similar fabric, its rear side being open in order that the inhaler or respirator may be readily applied when needed for use and as readily removed when notrequired.
The medicamentiispreferably in the form of a solution possessing the required curative I jiproperties that are desired for inhalation and Be it known that I, GEORGE H. MAURER, a V
exhalation, and isapplied by preference to a piece of raw cotton, a sponge,-or the like ahs'orbent, which is placed within the open nose- 1 stall,ifn'ot already resting thereimand the inhaler is then applied to the nose by means of the compressing-spring, so that the medicated cotton or sponge is brought immediately below and exterior to the nostrils in order that only the emanations from the medicated vehicle may enter the nostrils, no part of the device engaging or entering within the nostrils of the person wearing'the attachment. To apply the device to the nose itis neces sary to resort'to the method of applying eyeglasses to the nose.
- The device is extremely simple in its con-1 struction and can or may be used for the application of various medicaments that are adapted to inhalation in treating the respiratory organs.
Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters 1 Patent, is
In an inhaler or respirator, the combina tion with the nose-spring and pad-carrying frames, of the interposed pads secured to said pad-carrying frames upon their 'innerfaces' near the rear portions of said pad-carrying frames; an open pocket of textile fabric secured to said nose-spring and to said pad-car- 1 rying frames and extending below the en-. 1 trance to the nostrils of the wearer; and an absorbent material adapted to receive a cur'a-' 8o tive medicament and to permit of inhalations and exhalations of the latter without permitting the medicated absorbent material to enter and obstruct the entrances of the nos-.
