Be it known that I, ANTON REICHE, acitizen of the Kingdom of Saxony, in the Empire of Germany, residing at Plauen, near Dresden, in the Kingdom of Saxony, Germany,`
have invented a certain new and useful lmprovcd Candy-MoldingMachine; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, v

reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a candynnolding machine in which the candy-molds are fed automatically through the machine and filled froma suitable candy-containing hopper; and the object of the invention is to provide a machine of this character in which the filling of the candy-molds is done in an efficient and expeditious manner.
To this end the invention consists of a candy-molding machine comprisinga frame supported on suitable legs, said frame having parallel beams arrangedlongitudinally thereon, one of said beams beinglaterally adjust# able, means for laterallyadjusting the same,vv
means for feeding the candy-molds successively through the machine, a candy-containing hopper supported on said'frame for filling the candy-molds, as will be fully described hereinafter and finally pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a vertical longitudinal section of my improved candymolding machine, showing the front part thereof in elevation and the candy-molds feeding therethrough. Referring to the drawings, A represents the frame of -my improved candymolding machine, wh'ichis 'supported upon legs A and is provided with a stationary beam B and an vadjustable beam BQ which are arranged parallel with each other-and'longitudinally of the machine andA are` provided with the ways b on their upper faces, the stationary beam :forming one sideof the rectangular frame A.
The beamV B" is laterally adjustable, so as to adapt the machine for'the use of candy-molds of Various sizes, and the lateral adjustment of the beam is accomplished by means of transverse screw-shafts a., arranged at the' ends ot' the machine and journaled in opposite longitudinal sides of the frame A. The shafts a engage screw-threaded openings of the beam B,`sorthat by the rotation of the screw-shafts the beam is caused to be shifted. The simultaneous rotation of the screw yshafts'necessary for the proper shifting of 4the beam B is ,accomplishedl through a lon- 'Agitiidin'alshafta', having at its ends the beveled gears a2, meshing with the beveled gears a-3fcarriedon each ofI the screw-shafts d, as shown'in Fig. l.Y The screw-shaft at the rear end of the machine'is provided with a crank at, through which motionis transmitted to the shafts for shifting the beam B'.
I Y At the front end of the machine is a rack in'which the candy-molds are arranged one above another and from which they are fedv through the machine by a suitable feed mechanism. This rack is composed of standards, preferably of an gle-bars, supported uponthe beams B 4B and the brackets C. The standards D are secu red stationarily on the beams, and the standards D are adj ustably secured on the brackets C, said brackets being supported on the front end of the frame and 'projecting therefrom in line with the beams. The' lower ends of the standards D are supported above the beam bythe, braced, so that the inolds can be fed from the rack. The adjustable standards D are provided with the base portions dl, which are secured to the brackets G`by means of the bolts cl2, th'atpa'ss through the slots d3 of the brack- By reason of the rack being adjustable IOC the rolls e are truste-conical, while the rolls e are cylindrical and have a portion of their curved surfaces exposed iu the ways l), so as to engage the end edges of the mold. Each beam is provided with a frusto-conical roll and a cylindrical roll, the former of which is arranged under the lower end of one standard D, while the latter is slightly beyond the same. These companion rolls are mounted upon vertical shafts that carry at their lower ends the gears e2, meshing with the gears e3, so as to impart similar rotary motion to the rolls. Each gear c3 is mounted upon a vertical shaft e4, that carries at its lower end a gea-r e5, that meshes with the worm c upon the shaft F, that extends transversely of the machine. As the companion rolls carried upon the beam l5 are movable therewith, it is necessary to provide for the lateral shifting of its corresponding worm e, which is ac- -complished by slidably keying the worm to the shaft F by means of a feather f, as shown in Fig. 4. The movement of the worm upon the shaft F takes place by virtue of the gear el meshing therewith, which moves with the beam B'.
Midway between the ends of the machine is supported a candy-containing hopper II, that extends transversely the full width ot' the frame of the machine and which is secured to the upper ends of the supports 72, that are guided by the vertical standards 7i', secured to the frame of the machine. At the lower ends of the standards 7L are slots h2, through which project lugs 7b3 of the supports 7l. The lugs h3 are provided with threaded openings that engage the vertical screw-shafts g, which are journaled in the brackets g of the frame and carry at their lower ends the beveled gears g2, which mesh with the beveledfgears g", provided at opposite ends of the shaft G, having a crank G at one end thereof. By means of this latter mechanism the hopper is adapted to be adjusted vertically in proper relation to the candy-molds.
Upon the adjustable beam B/ is provided a yoke-like support I, to which is secured and arranged within the candy-containing hopper H a movable partition I', that is yieldingly connected with the yoke by means of the spring t' and is guided by the rods t', that project vertically from the upper end of the movable partition through openings in the top of the yoke-like support I. The movable partition I is adapted to move with the adjustable beam B, so that the length of the portion of the hopper th at contains the candy will always correspond to the length of the molds. The hopper is preferably constructed of metal and is provided with a jacket II', that is connectedwith a heating apparatus supported at one side of the hopper, so as to provide for the circulation of water at a suitable temperature around the hopper I-I in order to keep the candy contained in the hopper in a proper consistency.
The bottom of the hopper is provided with a longitudinal mouth having the converging portions m. At the rear side of the mouth is provided an adjustable lip m', so as to regulate-the size of the opening for the discharge of the candy from the candy-containing hopper. The adjustment of the lip m' is accomplished by means of a rod m2, extendinglongitudiually of the lip and supported on the candy-containing hopper, as shown in Figs. 3 and 5. The rod m2 carries at opposite ends spur-wheels m3, that mesh with the racks 'm4 on the adjustable lip m', the outer end of said rod being provided with a handpiece m5. EX- tending in inclined direction from the rear part of the mou th of the hopperis a stricklern, that is preferably ofa resilient material, such as spring sheet metal. The strickler end eX- tends transversely thefull length of the machine and is secured to the projections a on the supports 7L and is adapted to rest with its lower edge upon the molds as they pass through the machine. The beams are provided with plates a, that are arranged between the discharge-mouth of the hopper and the strickler, so as to prevent the candy from discharging at the ends of the stricklcr.
In operation of the device manual or motor power may be used. The movable beam is adjusted according to the length of the mold desired to be used in the machine. The adjustable standards of the candy-mold rack are adjusted to suit the width of the candymolds. The candy-hopper is adjusted vertically, according to the thickness of the molds. The molds are placed one upon another in the rack, the lower mold arranging itself in contact with the feed-roll e, which engages the end edges of the mold, and by operating the feed mechanism the lower mold is fed forward and engaged by the cylindrical feed-roll c' until the lowermost mold is moved outof the rack, and the mold next above is engaged by the feed-roll e and moved forward into contact with the first mold, which causes it to move forward along the ways on the upper faces of the beams B IS/l In this manner the mold that is in engagement with the feed-roll causes the preceding molds to move forward through the machine and passing under the discharge -mouth of the candy-containing hopper to be filled, the strickler a serving for the purpose of compressing the candy into the molds and smoothing olf the candy uniformly.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. In a candy-molding machine, the combination, of a suitably-supported rectangular frame having longitudinally-arranged beams thereon,said beams being provided with ways,

means for laterally adjusting one of said beams, and a mold-rack supported on said beams at one end of the machine, substantially as set forth.
2. In a candy-molding machine, the combination of a rectangular frame having a stationary beam and a movable beam, ways provided on said beams, means for laterally adjusting said movable beam, and rack-standards secured at one end of the machine, substantially as set forth.
3. In a candy-molding machine, the combination, witha rectangular frame, of a stationary beam and a movable beam, said beams being provided With Ways, means for laterally adjusting said movable beam, and stationary and adjustable rack-standards secured on said beams and suitably-provided brackets, said adjustable standards being secured on said brackets, substantially as set forth.
4. In a candy-molding machine, the combination, With a rectangular frame, of a stationary beam and a movable beam, said beams being provided with parallelvvays, means for laterally adjusting said movable beam, stationary and adjustable standards of anglebars, and slotted brackets secured at one end of the frame in line With said ,beams having said adjustable standards adjustably secu red thereon, substantially as set forth.
5. In a candy-molding machine, the combination, with parallel beams provided With suitable Ways, of a frusto-conical engaging roll on each beam, a cylindrical roll adjacent to said frusto-conical roll, and means for actuating the same, substantially as set forth.
6. In a candy-molding machine, the combination, with beams having parallel ways, of a frusto-conical engaging roll vertically mounted on each of said beams, a cylindrical roll also mounted on each beam adjacent to said frusto-conical roll, and means for imparting similar rotary motion to said rolls, substantially as set forth.
7. In a candy-molding machine, the combination, with parallel beamsprovided with Ways, of'a mold-rack at one end of the machine, feed-rolls on each beam adjacent said rack, and means for actuating said feed-rolls, substantially as set forth.
8. In a candy-'molding machine, the combination, with parallel beams provided with ways, of suitable molds fed in said Ways, a suitably-su pported candy-containing hopper, and means for vertically adjusting said candycontaining hopper, substantially as set forth.
9. In a candy-molding machine, the combination of a rectangular frame supporting longitudinally-arranged beams, said beams being provided with Ways, molds fed on said ways, a candy-containing hopper supported on said frame, a movable partition in said hopper, andy a yoke-shaped support for said partition carried on said beam, substantially as set forth.

In a candy-molding machine, the combination of suitably-supportedbeams,acandy; containing hopper, supports for said hopper, standards on said beams having ways for guiding said supports, screw-shafts carried by said standards engaging said supports, means for simultaneously operating said screw-shafts for adjusting the hopper, said hopper having a converging mouth, an adjustable lip for said mouth, and a resilient strickler inclined rearwardly from said mouth, substantially as set forth'.
