To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HARTWIG M. A. HAR- DERS, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of WVisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Means for Carrying Bottles, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are a part of this specification.

My invention has relation to improvements in means for carrying bottles.

The primary object had in view is to provide a table composed of a series of separate movable sections and in connection therewith a suitable track on which the tables travel, said track extending from a sterilizing-tank to a supporting medium located convenient or adjacent to the place at which the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled, whereby the bottles are carried with but a minimum of trouble and in a very short space of time.

With the above primary object and other incidental objects in view the invention consists of the devices and parts or their equivalents, as hereinafter set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of the complete device. Fig. 2 is a plan View of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a cross-section through the track, and Fig. 4 is an under View of one of the table-sections.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 indicates the tank in which the bottles are sterilized, and 6 indicates a frame supported by suitable legs and on which frame the terminal section of the track rests, said frame being adjacent or in close proximity to the apparatus on which the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled. The track is composed of sections, and the rails thereof which rest on the frame 6 and which form the terminal section of the track are indicated by the numerals 7 7. The outer extremities of these rails are provided with upwardly-extending stops 8, which form abntments against which the forward wheels of the forward table-section strike, and hence prevent said table-section from passing off the track. To the inner ends of these rails are secured sockets 9 9, preferably of U-shaped form in cross-section and projecting beyond the ends of the rails for a desired distance to form pockets in which the ends of the rails 10 10 of the next track-section removably fit.

The rear ends of these rails 10 are also provided with stops or abutments 11, adapted to prevent a table-section from passing off the end of the rails of the initial track-section. The rails of all of the track-sections preferably consist of rectangular or square beams, having the U-shaped strips 12 secured to the upper sides thereof, said strips forming grooves for the wheels of the table-sections to travel in.

The rails of the initial track-section are provided with means for adjustably engaging them with the upper edge of one of the side pieces of the sterilizing-tank,said means preferably consisting of providing a plurality of notches 13 on the under sides of the rails, any of the correspondingly-located notches adapted to be fitted over the edge of the sterilizing tank in accordance with the position of the rails of the terminal track-section on the frame or support 6.

Each section of the sectional table consists of a platform let, and on the under side of these platforms are carried bearings for rollers 15, said rollers fitting in the grooves of the U shaped strips 12. The bearings preferably consist of angle-beams 16, secured to strips 17, extending across the width of the platform, the said strips 17 serving to strengthen and reinforce the platform. From the downwardly depending members of the anglebeams 16 extend inwardly lateral studs 18, on which the rollers are mounted. The forward edge of the forward table-section is provided with an upwardly-extending flange 19, which forms a guard against the bottles falling off of said table-section. A similar flange, if desired, may be provided on all of the other table-sections.

It will be noticed that the upper edge of the sterilizing-tank is on a plane above the plane of the frame 6, and consequently the rails of the initial track-section are on a downward incline from said sterilizing-tank to the rails of the terminal track-section, said rails of the terminal track-section being on a horizontal or substantially horizontal plane. In

Fig. 1 of the drawings several of the tablesections are shown as having completed their travel and being at the forward end of the terminal track-section in position for the bottles to be removed for the labeling or tin-foiling operation. In the use and application of my invention the first table-section is held on the portions of. the rails which project over the sterilizing-tank, as shown in Fig. 1, and the bottles are then removed from said tank and placed upon the platform 14 of the table. After said platform is filled the table-section is released, and it then travels down the rails 10 onto the rails 7 to the outer ends of said rails '7 or until the forward wheels of said table-section come in contact with the stops 8. The succeeding sections are loaded with bot tles removed from the sterilizing-tank and are likewise permitted to travel along the track until their further progress is impeded by contact with the table-section in advance thereof. It will be seen that when all the table-sections have thus been filled and permitted to travel along the track until they contact with the table-section in advance thereof a continuous table is provided, from which the bottles can be removed to the place where the labeling or tin-foiling is done and which place is located at apoint adjacent or convenient to the frame or support 6. It will thus be seen that the operation of removing the bottles from the sterilizing-tank and conveying them therefrom and finally removing them to the place Where the labeling and tinfoiling operation is to be performed is accomplished with but a minimum of trouble and loss of time. I would also call attention to the fact that the particular means adopted by me for connecting the rails of the respective track-sections provides for the rails of one track-section being readily connected to or disconnected from the rails of the other track-section, and hence the length of the track can be lengthened or shortened to suit requirements in a very convenient and simple manner. It is also very desirable when my apparatus is not in use that a section of the track be removed, so as to afford a clear space between the tank 5 and the frame or support 6 for the passage of persons. By the means referred to for separating the rails of one track-section from the rails of another track-section this is readily accomplished.

My invention will be found particularly use fill in breweries, where a great number of bottles are required to be sterilized and then conveyed to a place where the labels and tinfoil are aflixed thereto.

What I claim as my invention is 1. In means for carrying bottles, the combination of a sterilizing-tank, a track leading therefrom, a' device for supporting the opposite end of the track, said supporting device being located convenient to the point where the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled, a bottlecarrying table consisting of a series of separate sections having horizontal platforms and supporting wheels adapted to run on the track, the horizontal platforms adapted to fit end to end when the sections are together, and means for stopping the forward section of the table at the end of its travel in one direction on the track, whereby the table-sections, after they have traveled to the limit of their extent in one direction, form a continuous table.

2. In means for carrying bottles, the combination of a sterilizing-tank, a track leading therefrom at a downward incline for a desired distance, a device for supporting the opposite end of the track, said supporting device being located convenient to the point where the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled, the portion of the track supported by said supporting device being on a horizontal or substantially' horizontal plane, a bottle-carrying table consisting of a series of separate sections having horizontal platforms and supporting-wheels adapted to run on the track, the said platforms adapted to fit end to end when the sections are together, and means for stopping the forward table at the completion of its travel in one direction on the track, whereby the table-sections, after they have traveled the limit of their travel, form a continuous table.

3. In means for carrying bottles, the combination of a sectional track, a frame for supporting the terminal track-section and located convenient to the point where the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled, a sterilizing-tank to which the initial track-section is connected, a bottle-carrying table consisting of a series of separate sections having horizontal platforms and supporting-wheels adapted to run on the track, the horizontal platforms adapted to fit end to end when the table-sections are together, and means for stopping the travel of the forward table-section at the end of the terminal track-section, whereby the several table-sections, after they have traveled the limit of their travel in one direction, form a continuous table.

4. In means for carrying bottles, the combination of a sectional track, a frame for supporting the terminal track-section and located convenient to the point where the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled, a sterilizing-tank to which the initial track-section is connected, a supporting means carried at the ends of the rails of one track-section and adapted to removably support the adjacent ends of the rails of the other track-section, a bottle-carrying table consisting of a series of separate sections having horizontal platforms and supporting-wheels adapted to run on the track, the horizontal platforms adapted to fit end to end when the table-sections are together, and means for stopping the forward tablesection at the end of the terminal track-section, whereby the several table-sections, after they have traveled the limit of their travel in one direction, form a continuous table.

5. In means for-carrying bottles, the combination of a sectional track, a frame for supporting the terminal track-section and located convenient to the point where the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled, a sterilizing-tank to which the initial track-section is connected, a U-shaped socket connected to the ends of the rails of one track-section and adapted to receive and removably support the adjacent ends of the rails of the other track-section, a bottle-carrying table consisting of a series of separate sections having horizontal platforms and snpporting-t'vheels adapted to run on the track, the horizontal platforms adapted to fit end to end when the table-sections are together, and means for stopping the travel of the forward table-section at the end of the termimal track-section, whereby the several table-sections,after they have completed their travel in one direction, form a continuous table.

6. In means for carrying bottles, the combination of a sectional track, a frame for supporting the terminal track-section and located convenient to the point Where the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled, a sterilizing-tank, means for adjustably connecting the initial tracksection to said sterilizing-tank, a bottle-carrying table consisting of a series of separate sections having horizontal platforms and supporting-wheels adapted to run on the track, the horizontal platforms adapted to fit end to end when the table-sections are together, and means for stopping the travel of the forward tablesection at the end of the terminal tracksection, whereby the several table-sections, after they have completed their travel in one direction, form a continuous table.

7. In means for carrying bottles, the combination of a sectional track, the rails of the initial track-section having a plurality of notches on their under edges, a frame for supporting the rails of the terminal track-section, and located convenient to the point where the bottles are labeled or tin-foiled, a sterilizingtank, the upper edge of one of the sides thereof adapted to be engaged by any of the corresponding notches of the rails of the initial track-section, a bottle-carrying table consisting of a series of separate sections having horizontal platforms and supporting-Wheels adapted to run on the track, the horizontal platforms adapted to fit end to end when the table-sections are together, and means for stopping the travel of the forward table-section at the end of the terminal rail-section, whereby the several table-sections, after they have completed their travel in one direction, form a continuous table.
