SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 698,032, dated April 22, 1902.

Be itknown that I, TIMOTHY LONG, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new anduseful Improvements in Hoisting and Conveying Machines, of-which the following is a specificationg This invention relates-to means for conveying and loading fuel or other material into boats, cars, or other receptacles in a convenient and expeditious manner; and it consists of a boat provided with'anumber ofcompartments havingslanting bottoms, alongitudinal I tunnel connected in the bottom of theboat with the said compartments, a vertical elevator'connected with said tunneha conveyingdrag in thetunnel for conveying the fuel to said elevator.
It also consists of a revoluble derrick supported over said compartments,provided with a conveyor and receiving-funnel chute and an adjustable telescopic chute attached to said conveyer capable of adjustment to the several hatchways of a vessehand suitable power on said derrick-platform for operating said derrick apparatus.
' The invention consists in the combination and'arrangement of the elements above enumerated, substantially as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings,Sheet 1, Figure 1 is a side elevation, partly in section, of a boat, showing the aforesaid compartments, elevator, conveyor, and the revoluble derrick supported thereon. -Sheet 2, Fig. 2 is a vertical section on line 2 20m Fig. 1, showing the tunnel in the bottom parts of the compartments, also the fun nel-chute receiver and the conveyor connected therewith. Fig. 3 is a top or plan view of the apparatus shown in Fig. 1.

Having described my invention, what I claim is 1. In a hoisting and conveying machine, a revoluble derrick, a traveling adjustable conveyer supported and carried by the derrick, a receiving-hopper mounted on the frame of the derrick,and an adjustable telescopic spout attached to the ends of the conveyer-beams, and means for operating the same, in combination, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. In a hoisting and conveying machine, a
revoluble derrick, a traveling, adjustable conveyor supported and carried by the derrick, a receiving-hopper mounted on the frame of the derrick, in combination with and supported on a vessel having fuel-compartments, a tunnel in the bottom of said compartments a belted scraping-conveyor in said tunnel, doors in the sides of the compartments for delivering their contents into said tunnel, and a vertical bucketed conveyor connected with said tunnel, and a discharging-spout on the top of said vertical conveyer for transferring material into the receiving-hopper on the derrick, substantially as described.
