IMPROVED CHURN, duodilgr fitlgrlmlt ttftmh it in that Emma amt zmt making and at flge 5mm.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY GONOERN:
Be it known that I, Moses WALTON, 0f Marlboro, in the county of Stark, and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Churns, 81.0.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and complete description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view.
Figure 2 is a detached view of the dashers.
Figure 3 is an under side view of fig. 2. I
Like letters of reference refer to like parts in the views.
In the drawings, A, fig. 1, represents the case, which may be of any desired size and form. B is the cover, through which passes the hollow shaft a, said shaft being made hollow to allow the air to pass in to the cream. On the end of this shaft, close to the under side of theicover, is the dasher-head C, at each corner of which is attached a heater, 1). These heaters may be placed in any of the angles, noted by the dotted lines, fig. 3, or at any other angle desired, according to the amount of cream to be agitated. Surrounding the shaft above the cover, is the sleeve E, said sleeve being secured to the cover, and in which the shaft turns. Connected to the top of the shaft a is the clamp I, formed as shown, and consisting of two metallic pieces, each piece being provided with lips c, the lips on the lower piece being on the two opposite sides from the lips on the upper one, as shown in fig. 1, the two pieces being placed far enough apart on the shaft to allow the arms J to pass between them, and the lips reaching over the opening between the pieces, thus leaving just room enough for the arms to move back and forth without turning to either side, the lips keeping them in place, and preventing their being turned to either side. The arms J are provided with handles K, as seen. The object of the arms and clamps is to give more or less leverage for operating the dashers, as the amount of cream to be churned requires. If a large amount, the arms are pulled out at full length, and thus increasing the leverage, which is decreased as desired, according to the amount of cream to be agitated, by moving the handles nearer each other.
What I claim as my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The adjustable heaters D, head 0, in combination with the hollow shaft a, sleeve E, extension arms J, and clamp I, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
