UNITED gramas PATENT FFICE.
IVILLIALWI A. H. lVINTER, OF BANCROFT, NEBRASKA.
DISPLAY=RACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 694,124, dated February 25, 1902. Application tiled August 11,1898. Serial No. 688,406. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. H. WIN- TER, residing at Bancroft, in the county of Cumming and State of Nebraska, have invented certain useful Improvements in Display-Racks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the inventiomsuch as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
This invention has relation to a new and novel improvement in display-racks.
The object of my invention is to provide a display-rack comprising a revolubly hollow housing adapted to contain an illuminatinglamp and provided with a plurality of display tables or shelves, as will be described more fully hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings I have shown in Figure l a sectional View of a display-rack embodying my invention. Fig. 2 shows a broken detached sectional enlarged view disclosing the arrangement of one of the transparency-holders.
In the accompanying drawings I have shown in Fig. l a base 1, to which base is secured a casting 2, adapted to hold an electric or spring motor or any other suitable power mechanism, as may be desired. Extending from this casing 2 is a hollow supporting-tube 3, perforated above, and within which is held the vertical shaft 4. This shaft above is encompassed by a cap 7, secured to the shaft 4 by means of the pin G, which is supported by means of the nut 5, as clearly shown in Fig. l. This cap 7 is exteriorly threaded, so as to be engaged by the lower nut 8, which nut supports the display-table 9, which display-table 9 is secured to the cap 7 by means of the nut 10, so that this table is removably secured to the cap 7. Extending upward from this table 9 is a hollow approximately truncated coneshaped housing A, which is provided with a plurality of openings or perforations a. Exteriorly and at suitable points I have secured to this hollow housing A a plurality of rings 16 in superposed position, which rings are adapted to support the display-shelves 18, I9,
and 20, as clearly shown. This housing Ais provided at a suitable place with an ordinary door D, while surrounding the upper end of the cap 7 within the housing I secure a suitable lam p F, provided with one or more wicks, which may be lighted to illuminate the interior of the housing, Interiorly this cap 7 is provided with a sleeve 25, held by means of a suitable set-screw, so that the shaft may be supported by means of this sleeve 25 it' that should be desired. The ring 16, positioned adjacent the lamp F, is provided with a packing-ring 17, preferably made of noncombustible material, such as asbestos, so that the shelf 18 may not be scorched by the heat of the lamp. Above I provide the housing A with a suitable cap E to form an ornamental termination.
The openings within the housing A are provided with suitable frames 15, in the form of transparency-holders, (shown more clearly in Fig. 2,) adapted to hold the isinglass'sections B B, between which is held a suitable advertising-transparency C. Working about the housing and upon the tables 9, 1S, and 19 are the supporting-rims 2l, as shown.
This device forms a neat and striking display-rackand may be driven by any suitable means.
Having thus described my said invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent, is
In a display-rack of the character described, the combinationof the following instrumentalities; to wit: the base l, the supportingtube 3, extending therefrom, the supportingshaft 4; within said tube 3, the cap 7 secured to said shaft 4, the table 9 secured to said cap, the hollow standard A, the transparencies ct, within said standard, the supports 16 secured to said hollow standard, and the shelves I8, 19, and 2O held by said supports, all arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
WILLIAM A. II. WINTER.
