IMPROVEMENT IN FAN-ATTACHMENT TO OHILDRENS GARRIAGES.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JULIUS REINSCII, of the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Fan-Attachment to Childrens Carriages; and I do heroby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a childs carriage, showing my improvement applied to it.
Figure 2 is a plan view of my improvement.
My invention consists in the combination, with a childs carriage, oi a fan-attachment, so constructed and applied to the axles 01 wheels of the carriage that motion will be imported to it by the progressive motion of the carriage.
I have shown in the drawing a square box childs carriage, A, provided with three wheels, B being, the hind wheels and C the forward or steering wheel. The axle of the wheel 0 is hung in bearings 44 attached to the box-of the carriage, and. the end of the axle is carried out beyond the bearing on one side, and to its end there is connected a crank, D, to which crank is connected at pitinann'od, E, secured to a lever, b, on the end of a shaft, F, having bearings a secured to the dash-board of the carriage, to which shaft F the fan G is secured. Provision is made for regulating the sweep of the fan by having a slot, d, out through it in the direction of the length of the lever b, and a projecting piece on the said lever passes through this slot, and has a thumbscrew, 0, applied to it for securing the pitman at any point along the slot d. Any kind of fan may be employed, as is obvious.
I do not limit myself to the manner herein shown of connecting the Fan to the axle of the carriage, as many other ways may be employed; for instance, in the case of a two-wheelerl carriage a cam niay be secured to the axle, so that a. pitznan or rod can be connected to it and Worked thereby to give the desired motion to the Fan, and other connections may be used; the invention being to so combine a fan with a child's carriage as to give it motion by any suitable connection with the runninggear or axles :of the carriage. The same combination may be effected with largercarriages if found desirable.
My invention provides an easy means for keeping a baby cool in warm weather, and also for keeping mosquitoes, flies, and other insects 'rom annoying the child, and it also, in a certain degree, serves to keep cool the person who may propel the three-wheeled style of childs carriage. 1
What I claim as my invent-ion, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with a childs carriage, of a fan, so connected to the running-gear of the carriage that the required IIlOlilOil will be imparted to it during theprogressive motion of the carriage, substantially as herein specified.
JULIUS REINSCH.
