Description

WAH. DAVIS A E. E.l WAGOR. SHEET METAL PAN EoEMEE Patented sept, u1'1, `1867;
W. "H. 'DAVIS AND n. H. WAGOR, 0F DOWAGIAG, MICHIGAN.
Letters Patent No. 68,962, d ated Septemer 17, 1867..
IMPROIIEMENT IN SHEET-METAL PAN FORMER.
To ALL WHOM Ir MAY oo'NoER'N:
Bc it known that we, W. H.` DA'vrs und R.' H. WAeon, of Dowaginc, in the county of Css, and in the Stute i of Michigan', hnve invented certain new und useful Devices for Making Square Tin Pansg. nnd'do hereby declare that the following is n. full, clear, und exnct'description thereof, reference being had to the -acoompanying drawings, und to the letters of reference marked thereon. v y i In the annexed drawings, making part oi this specification, A represents a. table, which is supported upon suitable legs, and .which has n rectangular opening cut through its bottom. The top of this table is made in bok form, with its ends and sides flnrin-gor bevelled, as seen in Fignre. e e represents the bottom 'or bed-- plete of this table. Erected upon one cud of this tublelis n standard, D, which, after passing up vertienllyn littlevdistance, curves, so that its .upper end standsovcr the centre ofthe table. E E represent standards,which are erectedA upon the sides of the table, and which are groo'ved on their inner feces or sides. F represents a die, which is made in sbnpe to correspond with the top of .the table and the pen to be made. This die is provided on its sides with' the arms G G, the upper ends of which connect with rods P P, which said rodst -nnd slide in the grooves of the standards E E. I represents a ber,which is pivoted at its lower end between two curs on t'he centre and'upper side of the die F. The upper end of this bar is pivqted to the end of a. lever, H,
which snid lever H is pi voted to the upper end of the upright or standard D. Byelevatingthe outer end of the lever H the die F is thrown down, and by` depressing it the die is elevzited. Beneath the table, und lying crosswise of it and secured to it, is a bar, K, which has o, socket depending from its under side at its centre. In this socket isplncedn rod, L, which has surrounding it n coiled wire spring, a, Upont'he upper endof this rod are four arms, M Mft-he outer ends of which turn upwards'. These arms' play `upnndclown through the rectangular 'opening in the bottom of the table, and serv'e to raise the pan o of the table bed-plete after it Ihun been formed. Slots or openings'QC are cut vor formed infthe four corners' ofthe table, asseen in Figure 1.V
The sheet or plete of metal of which the pen is to beformed is plnced upon the table underthe die F. The die is forced down by means ofthe lever H, and the sheet or plete` is .forced into the bei: top of the table until the bottom of said plate rests upon the bed e e. The flaring orV bevelled sides of the box give form to the sides .of the pun, and the corners the pan are allowed to enter the slots CU in the corners ofthe box. jvhen the pun has been formed, by pressing down the die, said die is rnised, and the arms M M beingthrownbpby the spring a lift the pan oft' of the bed-platee, and it can be removed from the machine to make roo'm for another.. Having thus fully describedourinvention, what we claim ns new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 1. The lever H, bruce D, shaftl, former Eend guide-rods P P, in combination with the b'ox A, as described, and for the purposes set forth. v i
' 2. The arms M M, rod L, andspring a, in combinntion with the box A, as describedynnd` for the purposes specified.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing we have hereunto set our hands this sixteenth day of February, 1867.
W. HL DAVIS, R. H. WAGOR.
