BRACELET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 687,21*?, dated November 26, 1901.
' Application led August 27, 1901. Serial No.l 7314.99. (N0 model.)
To ally/hom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMIL FRITsoHLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Bracelet, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of bracelets which expand and retract to facilitate adjustment to the arm of the wearer, and has for its objects cheapuess, beauty, comfort, and durability. A
To these ends my invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure l is a perspective view of my new bracelet; Fig. 2, a longitudinal section of the same on line sono of Fig. 3; Fig. 3, aplan View of a section thereof distended; Fig. 4, a section of the same on 'y y of Fig. 3; Fig. 5, a plan of a tube member; Fig. 6, a longitudinal central section, and Fig. 7 an end view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate'like parts throughout the several views.
My bracelet A is composed of a series of overlapping tubes, each of Which comprises an ornamental head portion 0,Which is nearly 3o rectangular in cross section, with rounded corners and a reduced or tapering body portion a. This construction results in an annular shoulder d, intermediate the head and body portions, against which each successive head abuts when the bracelet is retracted.
The reduced or longitudinally-tapering portion a has its upper and lower sides centrally depressed or channeled at e, thus forming two parallel passages f for the spiral springs b, which traverse the interior of the tube series. The upper channel e has an oblong slot g, to admit longitudinal movement therethrough of a pin h, which is fixed in and centrally traverses the tube-head o. Y
In Figs. 3 and 4 is shown the position of the tube series when tension is applied to the bracelet. The longitudinal movement is checked by the contact of the pin h with the end of slot g. The removal of tension allows the tube-heads to approach until all the shoulders d are in contact and the braceletiparts are thereupon in normal position.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,M
A braceletconsisting of a series of overlapping tubes, elastic means inclosed Within the overlapping tubes for retracting said tubes, longitudinal slots in the tapering or reduced portions of the tubes and pins iixed in the enlarged portions of the tubes and movable in the said slots.
In Witness whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two witnesses. f
EMIL FRITSCI-ILE.
