TO ALL WHOM 1T MAY GONGERN: l
Be it known that I, FnnDnRrcK Gnsswnm, of Fonddu Lac, in the State of Wisconsin, have invented anew und useful Improvement'on aRustie Window-Shade or Blind; and I do hereby declare that the following is u full and exnet description oi'thsamc, reference being had t0 the anncxeddruwings, making a ,part of this specification', and to the letters ofreference marked thereoni Figure 1 representing a perspective view of the shade, and
Figure 2 the nia-nner in which thc slats overlap each other at their edges.
To enable others skilled in the nrt to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction und operation. i
The blind or `shade is constructed with an uppcribar, corresponding in length to thelength of the slats, and to it is attached, by means of tacks or screws, the upper slat of the Shade. Tle'slat-s of the shade nre connected with each other by being woven together by threads or cords, which pass in notches on the edge-s of the slats in front -und bsx-ck alternately. To secure a. complete shade, the edges of thc sluts are bevelled, euch fitting upon its adjunct, and thus preventing the shade from being seen through, and at the seme time allowing a circulation of air through the connections; also, by hrtvngthe edges bcrelled, the blind can be rolled up without the slats breaking or warping. To thelower slat is attached a bar of wood, which ects'as a weight to hold the .blind down.
Whatl claim :is rny improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-Y A. blind or Shad?, couiposedof slats with bevelled edges, arranged substantially as above described, with notches inthe edges of each slet where crossed by threads, thereby weaving thc slats closely together, and nurrowing 'theopenihg between them, and allowing,r the bcvels of the edges to connect closely. i
