Be it known that I, MARTIN BoHLIG, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Speculum and Medicine-Distributer, of which the following is a specication.
My invention relates to improvements in vaginal medicine-distributers and speculums, its object being to provide a combination distributer `and speculum, the speculum portion being preferably detached to enable it to be used with a separate bulb to constitute a suction-syringe.
My invention consists of certain improved features of construction and combination, as will be hereinafter specifically described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure l is a perspective view of my improved device. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the speculum and medicine-distributing portion. Fig. 3 is a detail of the end of the medicine-outlet. Fig. 4: is a View of a separate bulb adapted for use with the speculum portion.
In the drawings, A represents the inclosing cylindrical wall of the medicine-distributer carried by a suitable base 2. Leading through the bottoln of the base is a tube 3, to the lower end of which isdetachably secured the rubber tube of a bulb 5. The tube extends upwardly nearly to the ytop of the inclosing,r wall A and has its upper end 6 bent downwardly, as shown in Fig. 2. The upper end of the cylindrical wallA is closed by a screw-threaded cap 7, said cap being provided with a central tube 8, extending downwardly nearly to the bottom of the wall. the upper or outlet end of the tube 8 is fitted a square plug 9, leaving openings upon its sides through which the medicine is designed to pass. Any medicine dropping back is guided into the tube by the cup-shaped part B represents aspeculum, preferably made of glass, carrying upon its lower end a collar ll, adapted to be screwed into the upwardlyprojecting flange 12 of t-he base 2. The speculum is preferably tapered and has its upper end beveled and, as shown, projects slightly beyond the end of the medicine-distributer. O represents a separate bulb provided with an interiorly-threaded base-piece 13. Vhen it is designed to use the device as asuctionsyringe, the speculum B is removed from the medicine-distributer and fitted to the base; piece 13 of the bulb O.
The object of the invention is to thoroughly apply the medicine to the internal parts and without injury, and this is accomplished by arranging the medicine-distributer inside of a speculum of the kind shown. The detachable character of the speculum also allows it to be used with the separate bulb as a suction-syringe.
I claim-'- l. In a device of the class described, the combination of a medicine-distributor, oonsisting of a chamber, an outlet-tube leading from the bottom of ksaid chamber from the front end thereof, an air-bulb, a tube leading from said air-bulb through the bottom of said chamber, and a speculum having detachable support upon said tube and projecting be yond the end of said medicine-receptacle.A
