Be it known that l, Rns'ronn B. LAMB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Holly, in the county of Burlington, State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Retlectors, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.

My invention consists of an improvement in reflectors for windows, adapted for use in stores, dwelling-houses, dre., as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

Figures 1 and 2 represent perspective views of a reflector embodying my invention, the same being respectively in operative and inoperative positions, a portion of a windowframe being included. Fig. 3 represents a partial elevation and a partial vertical section of a portion thereof. Fig. 4 represents a perspective view of one of the bearings employed.

Referring to the drawings, A designates a window-frame, B C the sashes, and D the shutters thereof, the latter being employed, if desired.

E designates the reflector,which is mounted in the space between the window-sashes and the shutter on the bar or shaft F, around which is deected or turned the end of the plate of sheet metal or other suitable material of which the reflector is composed, the ends of said shaft F forming journals, which rest in ears or bearings G, the latter being screwed or otherwise secured to side Stiles of the window-frame. It will be seen that the lower portion of the reflector-plate, which is turned or deected around the shaft F, forms a tube to receive said shaft F, the latter thus being held in said tube, forming a irm connection for the shaft. The ends of the tube are then cut away, forming recesses, as shown in Fig. 3, leaving the ends of the shaft eX- posed, forming the journals aforesaid, said journals occupying said recesses, it being noticed that when said journals occupy said ears Gr the lower end of the plate above said letters of reference indicate corre-v tube may readily turn over the outer Walls of said ears, while the sides of said plate may come closely to the side stiles of the windowframe, and the said plate may be made theentire width of the space between the opposite side Stiles, forming an increased reflecting-surface.

For convenience of application and removal of the reector, -even by an inexperienced person, the ears Gr are open at top, as mostclearly shown in Figs. 3 and 4.

H designates a cord or chain which is connected with the reflector and passes over the pulleys J and through openings K in the Vsashes B and window-frame, so that the free end is within the room, whereby it may be grasped for manipulating the reflector without opening the window therefor.

The operation is as followsz'When the shutters are open, by releasing the cord or chain H the reiiector will turn to its operative position. (Seen in Fig. 2.) W'hen the shutters are to be closed, the reflector is drawn in and the shutters may follow the same, the result being shown in Fig. 2. v

It will be noted that the device may be made at a reasonable costaud applied to a window-frame now existing.

It will of course be evident that changes may be made in the construction without departing from the spirit of my invention, and I do not therefore desire to be limited in every instance to the exact form as herein'shown and described.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is#- In a window-reiiector, open eyes adapted to `be connected with a window-frame, in combination with a reflecting-plate having a tube integral* therewith, the ends of said tube be-Y ing cut away forming recesses, and a shaft held in said tube and having its ends projecting beyond the same and occupying said re- CBSSQS.
