ANNULAR CHAMBER-OVEN.

To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEO OTTO BOEING, a subject of the King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany, residing at Vallendar, in the Kingdom of Prussia and German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Annular Chamber-Ovens, (for which I have applied for patent in Germany, dated March 12, 1898, and in Austria, dated July 28, 1899,) of which the following is a specification.
The object of the present invention is to provide anew and improved furnace for annular chamber-ovens; and the invention consists in features of construction and in a novel combination of parts, as hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a vertical longitudinal section showing the furnace arranged in a combustion-chamber. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section of the same.
The reference-letter A designates a partition-wall of the oven, and F is a bridge-wall. The grate R consists of a number of separate plates or bars arranged at a suitable height above the bottom of the ash-pit, parallel with the draft. The ends of the grate bars or plates are supported at one end by the wall A and at the other end by the short firebridge F, as shown. between the wall A and the fire-bridge F are a plurality of upright separated bars R to support the grate bars or plates at their middle. At one side of the bars R and near the The Beneath this grate and life of these nozzles and pipes is necessarily very short, and hence they must be frequently renewed, and by the construction set forth this result can be very quickly attained, which I consider a matter of considerable importance. The provision of the bars R furnishes a means for sustaining the grate-bars at their middle, and by separating said bars they form what might be termed an interrupted partition, which does not affect the proper action of the steam. By means of these steamnozzles G the hot gases in the adjacent chambers of the oven are drawn out from such chambers and driven upward through the grate and through the fuel thereon into the communicating combustion chamber K,
'whence the gases eventually pass through suitable passages, as K, dotted lines, to the ash-pit of an adjacent furnace.
Having described the invention, I claim-- A furnace of the class described having an enlarged opening in a side Wall thereof, a combu'stion-chamber, an ash-pit, a grate above the ash-pit consisting of a plurality of bars arranged in the line of draft, a single steamnozzle in the ash-pit under and at one end of the furnace and situated adjacent to said opening whereby said nozzle can be readily reached through said opening, and means for supporting said grate-bars at their ends and middle, the middle support consisting of a plurality of upright separated bars.
